I been looking into buying a 22
marlin, ruger10/22, or lever action
I walked into big5 today and they have
a sigg 522 $479 more than I been thinking
of spending but the idea of tactical
22 is growing on me
What you all think about it is worth it
I'll need some input let me know
if is worth buying or not

I bought one used a few weeks ago to compliment my M&P 15/22. Of the two its more accurate at farther distances, but it is heavier. Mags are cheaper and easier to come by, but other accessories are very limited.

I like it better than the 10/22 I use to own, I never liked the manual of arms on the Ruger.

I can't really compare it against a lever or pump, SA .22s are a whole other class in themselves, and a total blast.

Between the M&P and 522, I still like the M&P more because of the true last shot bolt hold open.

You should also consider the 522 Combo, it comes with an extra 20" heavy profile barrel for $20 more than the price you quoted from Big 5.

+1 Sig522, Ruger 10/22, Colt M4. I don't have the S&W but reports have been good.

Put 800 rounds through mine with no problems. Use federal bulk. Get the SWAT because of the quad rail

There was an design issue on the SIG 522 bolt. Sig is offering replacement parts for free See:

Might be fully remedied by now if you purchased new.

I agree joelj320 get the swat 522. U get a better sight radius because of the longer top rail. Besides it just looks alot better.

My friend owns a 522. I personally own a s&w 15-22. Both are bad ***.

I have a Sig 522, and I've put a little over 2500 rounds through it. I really like it.
I did have one of the e-clips in the bolt fail on me after 1600 rounds. I received the bolt upgrade kit from Sig after making a phone call. They were easy to deal with.

The bolt design is definitely the weak point in the rifle, but the e-clips are easy to come by (Home Depot stocks 'em).

Knowing what I know now about this rifle I would still buy it - it's that much fun

If reliability is important to you, I'd have to say that the 522 shouldn't come top of your list due to the inherent bolt design problem.

I got mine for $369 + DROS + Tax a few months ago.

I have about 5K rounds thru mine. Absolutely love it and have had no issues no matter what crap ammo I feed it. The e-clip issue has been resolved on any 522 manufactured sine Feb. '10. It has also been shipping with iron sights since July '10. Buy it and you won't stop smiling.

The bolt has been redesigned again as of June 2011. The new upgrade kit contains a guide rod with a hole drilled in one end that a roll pin fits into it instead of one of the e-clips on the end. I got mine the other week. I've yet to use it as I found an inexpensive source of e-clips - Home Depot...

Love the 522, other than the 10/22 it eats everything you feed it...


Just please avoid the Sig556.. it's a POS

I love my 522. No complaints so far. Minus the lack of any sights out of the box. I ended up with the CP1 from sig. Great sight and the Bullet drop works great. Looking to sell it though. No room in the safe and I am trying to build other rifles right now. I have way to many .22LR's anyways.
