I heard that they improved it when they bought it from Charter Arms. So I took a chance, and haven't been disappointed. Bought mine years ago. I think they're fine.

I had an old charter arms AR-7 and what a POS. Two barrels later and a few stock I sold it. Great concept but a POS. You could do about the smal with a ruger 10/22 as they break down real easy.

I had problems with mine but maybe they are making things with a higher quality now.

Do you know what the newer model is called? Searched their site but couldn't find anything similar. Used ones are going for $500-$700. Urk.

The consensus on the interwebs seems to be the hunter versions of the Ruger 22 are the best value.

Oh, don't screw the barrel in like that guy, when you go to tighten it down, pull the bolt back while tightening so you can make sure it's tightened properly.
Did you put a little scope on it or are the sights on it good enough for squirrel/rabbit range anyway?

i've got a Henry catalog and i've looked at this rifle a few times.

i haven't done any research on the Henry version... but i'm tempted to do just that.

New Rossi Wiward......allows you to pick a 22, ant shotgun gauge, any available rifle caliber of which 223, 308, 243 were certainly options....you have to switch barrels

It has an aperture rear sight. Works fine for say 50 yards.

$200-$220 -- hard to go wrong. And to confirm what frankm said, I've read in a bunch of places that they got the chamber (or whatever it was) right and it feeds pretty much everything well. (I think the big problem for it before was hollow point ammo).

not bad for a rifle that stores itself in it's own stock and floats on water. it could be a potential candidate for a SHTF small caliber rifle; when limited space is an issue.

Especially when these are going for $800-$2,000

I'm tempted to ask Springfield if I can mfg these things under license. (What do you need -- just a few 100k to become an arms mfg.?)
