I just picked up the 4-16x40AO from Centerpoint. The rings seem a little high for my 1984 10/22 but I've never used a scope before. The one I have came with weaver rings, but you can also buy the dovetail rings for $5 from Crosman Centerpoint's website. Although the $12 shipping makes it not a very good deal.

I like the rings because it holds the tube down with four hex bolts screws compared to the Leupold rings that use only one.

I don't have long-term experience, nor have I sighted it in yet, though.

Nikon ProStaff 3-9x40 duplex's can be had for $99 with just a little shopping around. They're pretty good.

Believe it or not, a cheap $39 BSA also works pretty well within the range limits of a typical stock 10/22. You don't need "a lot of scope" for such a rifle.

Grabbed one of these from Cabela's a few weeks ago. It's mounted although I haven't been out to the range with it yet. Just adjusting it, it feels nice sturdy and has a very clean and bright image. It seems like a lot more than $99.

I'm thinking that my current setup with the 10/22, being a sort of tacticool setup (it's in a FDE Tapco stock), I'm actually looking for a smallish, more svelte scope. 4x is plenty on a .22, methinks. My 10/22 is very accurate (10 round groups easily covered by a nickel at 25 yards) but it certainly isn't an insanely precise target model where 10 round groups could be covered by Nancy Pelosi's brain, so I don't think I need a huge scope with 12x magnification.

Something with small physical dimensions would fit the bill, and to me, "look better" with the setup as a whole. Maybe it's just me, but I find gigantic scopes on semi auto firearms kind of jarring - like those gigantic spoilers kids used to put on 4-cylinder Hondas.

Can't beat the Bushnell scopes for performance and durability. They may not have as many sexy "bells & whistles" but they work! And, in the event you have problems with it, Bushnell has exceptional Customer Service!

Bushnell Sportsman 3-9x32. Looks like a "Normal" scope on a small rifle with the only 32mm objective lens, still has up to 9x magnification, and its on sale at www.natchezss.com under their closeout stuff for $23 bucks. Can't beat that with a stick. Check out their stuff under natchez closeouts and try and see what you come across. For under $50 you can get a lot for your money. I got a glass etched reticle Brunton scope, nitrogen purged, and made in the USA for under $50 bucks one day and put it on a rifle as a CHEAPO hold over scope and decided to just keep it because it took a LOT of abuse and kept a zero. Its been one of the best cheap scopes I've ever bought, and the glass is incredibly clear for the money.

I have a Hawke 3-9x40 ill. mil dot reticle scope on a nice springer air rifle and it's held up well. Adjustable down to 7 yards and around $120. Maybe cheaper if you find a closeout.

I have one for my 22LR and it works great. Find a 5% off coupon code online and came out to be just under $64 shipped. Review in Amazon said the scope tends to be blurry after 20X but for shooting at 50 yards, I have no problems and it's not blurry at all. I do have great sunlight though when I was shooting.
