ruger mark III target assembly help

Hey guys. I'm about at my wits end with assembling this pistol back together. I used the following video from rugers website to help walk me through it, but nothing seems to go as smoothly as it did in the video:

Everything seemed to be stuck shut and took a lot more force than in the above video and videos I looked at on youtube.

I'm stuck at the last step, where I insert the spring housing. For whatever reason the bolt from it will not go through the holes. It gets stuck. I'm not sure if I have the receiver pulled back far enough and was wondering if you mark III experts could look at a few pics and advise me to help me get this thing back together.

Is the hammer in the correct position?

Did I put the receiver back far enough?

Really would appreciate any advice. Cleaning this gun is quiet the chore.

Ah, Just put that black bar up and then the spring housing should fit? Will definitely give that a try when I get back home.

Looked at that other video that was posting and nothing went nearly as easy as that. Did anyone else have to use a mallet to get things loose? Hope I didn't break anything.

Yeah its pretty tight the first couple of times you take it apart and put it back together.

I had the same problem...make sure the upper is aligned correctly with the lower. When aligned properly, the back end of the upper should be coming out a little bit MORE than the lower.

Have patience, don't rush anything. Put the mainspring into the lower first, if this is new or you haven't done this before, the parts may be a little stiff anyways even if it's lined up correctly. I put the mainspring assembly in the lower before I put on the upper just to make sure it fits into that hole on the top, then I slap on the upper and try again, if it's stiff then it's either not aligned correctly (might need a rubber mallet to tap from the front), or requires some finesse to get it in.

Flip the gun with barrel pointing down to the ground and pull the trigger, and then try and push it in...see if that will help. Once you get it in FLIP the handgun back with the barrel pointing up and let the hammer strut hang on the edge of mainspring before closing it shut. Look at the pictures from guntalks and Moe's assembling video on youtube, they help tremendously in understanding the concepts of where everything should go and it worked easier for me because after I understood everything, I could run a visual in my head.

Here's the link to Mark III diassembling/reassembling video I was referring to, easiest to understand in my opinion. Good luck with everything.

Ya might want to take out the mag disconnect lever while you're in there. It really sucks having to put the mag in and pull it out during assembly/disassembly just so you can pull the trigger.

I've heard those are very tricky but will shoot 5000 rds between cleanings.

I know a couple guys with them that have theirs cleaned by the shop.

Ruger should include a mallet when you buy a MarkIII. I had to ask my friends dad to help put mine back together. They're a b!tch untill you've done it 100-200 times
