It is frustrating to have a rifle that is so user friendly to upgrade. And the various configurations arg!

Making a 10/22 look like a M1 Garand is much more involved. I'm exploring that option.

I was thinking the M1 30 carbine, but I ahve been reading an article on doing it with a Garand as well

Wow, other than the stock color, I dig it. Must be a sweet tack driver to shoot.

Way, WAY back in the early 90s, I went to the SHOT Show as part of my work at the time---once there, I spotted the first Volquartsen conversion I had seen. This was back at the start of the whole custom 10-22 scene. Back at the shop, I pulled a brand-new stainless 10-22 off the shelf and ordered the full kit including the stock and fluted barrel - everything! Put the rifle together in about an hour and a half---remembered a Leapold 6.5-20x AO scope I had purchased second-hand and slapped it into a set of Millet rings we had at the shop. The rifle is exactly this way 20 years later---certainly one of the most accurate and enjoyable guns ever!

                      Welcome to the club.

My friend once told me, "The 10/22 can be the most expensive rifle you will ever own."

I can second that. was looking for something "cheap" to do with my boys and they were interested in shooting. We bought three totally stock stripped them down replaced everything but the receivers and safty. We have a great time with them but they can be a money pit. There is always something else we want to do to them. They are a blast but yes they can get very expensive. Have way more than in them than I ever imangened. On the plus side they are cheep to shoot and will last many years if well taken care of.

So I striped the rifle down made the changes on the trigger, then the stock.

Fast forward 2 hours later when I realized, it was easy and I am now looking to make a few more mods and picking up a few parts and and and and I think I have 10/22 fever! So I am screwed, I think I must build a custom 10/22 now and spend money, sigh**
