This is actually another bonus for the Mueller APV as it allows focusing down to 30 feet (10 yards). I dont think you would find 4.5x too much at that distance as the field of view with this scope is pretty good. A 3x scope with crappy field of view could be much harder to use at the same range.

As for purchasing it, Muellers arent likely to be found at your local gun shop but as someone else above mentioned, joeboboutfitters.com seems to be the best place to buy them. Free shipping, no sales tax and possibly a free tshirt too

I went ahead and ordered the BSA that I linked above. Its the old version of the "Sweet .22" I figure for $50.00 shipped if it works out, cool. If not then cool Ill buy something else and hit this one with a hammer. In the mean time I'll keep looking and try to find exactly the right one. I may build a second 10/22 for that Mueller and see which one works the best in and out doors.

Mueller is a very good choice, a friend of mine has the APV on his Marlin. It was a very good combo, a bit over kill in my opinion but for the price it's very hard to beat. I would get either the Mueller or a Nikon Prostaff.

3-9 seems about right to me for a .22 thats whats on it now and it jsut feels like a good range to me. I almost wanted to go with another Bushnell elite 3200 10xbut I just dont think its the right scope for this guy.
Yeah its the new one, I really like it. The yardage nob is awesome. I was shooting at 25 yards then switched to 50 and it was dead on. BUT, I wish I knew about that deal could have saved a lot of money.

Good I cant get used to the Yardage on the new one, so it worked out perfectly! Tomorrow morning I'm going to the range.

For 30 feet plinking you are lookingat a lot of scope.
How about about the Simmons 4X , 22mag scope? It's on my 10/22. Plenty of power for 100 yards and still good at 30 feet. Has held zero perfectly for 1000s of rounds. Field of view is fine for paper punching and it is clear and bright with fine line x-hairs. I typically shoot one hole groups at 25yards.

For me it is hard to justify a $$$ scope for a 10/22. The Simmons is about $30 and worth double or triple that.

I had bought Nikon 3x9x40 prostaff for three 10/22s about $130 each. They were great scopes but had no A.O a friend of mine showed me his Tascos. I had shot this brand many years ago while living in MT and had really good luck with them but was not aware they were still around anyway long store short I ended up buying 3 2.5x10x42 from Midway at $69.00 each and love them they are as clear as the Nikons and have the A.O. I had only mounted one of the Nikons and it was a super clean job I was able to return all three of them to Basspro and saved a lot of money. Well thought i was going to save a lot ending up spending it right back the same day when they have 22 ammo for 14.95 a box for Rem 550 bulk.
