I've read far too many threads like the one I am posting, but I just have to say it:
I'm infected with .22LR madness.
I originally bought a 10/22 on a whim because Turners had it on sale and I wanted to save money by DROS'ing another toy with my Mossberg Maverick 88 shotgun. I picked up both 10 days later, and the 10/22 sat in the closet for a month while all my attention went to my new mossy (which I fondled and racked in my apartment daily.) First shotgun and first .22LR by the way.
Flash forward to a trip up to the Bay Area to visit friends and family, and I finally busted out the 10/22 to go to Livermore shooting range with my dad and a friend. Iron sights, shooting some Winchester Dynapoint that my dad had, 25 and 50 yards, it was a dreamboat. 500+ rounds of dynapoint and not a single issue. No FTF, FTE, or duds.
I am in freaking LOVE. Out of my small collection (XD9, mav88, 10/22), I never thought that this dinky little .22 would become my favorite, but it has. I maybe shot 100 rounds out of my XD9 and 10 slugs from my mav88 that day, but the real fun was shooting that sweet sweet completely stock 10/22.
Maybe I just don't know better yet, and maybe because I haven't shot any modded 10/22s yet, but I love how the stock 10/22 shoots. The trigger felt great, it was very reliable, and I did surprisingly well (for me) with the iron sights, able to hit 3" targets at 50 yards no problem. I am completely satisfied with the stock 10/22 so far.
