    CMMG Dedicated Upper POI

    Greetings Calguns!

I just received a new CMMG dedicated .22lr upper, and while shooting it this past weekend, I noticed that the point of impact was about 6" lower than point of aim.

Since I didn't have any tools with me (go figure, I was too eager to go shooting!), I found that I had to aim about 1/2 way down the front post.

Is this normal/typical for this setup? Will there be problems with adjusting the elevation that much?

Windage was fine after a few adjustments to the rear sight.

It is a M4 LE with the F marked triangular frnot sight and a Magpul MBUS (1st gen) for the rear sight.

    Thank you!

The problem might be with height of the BUIS.

From CMMG website: "The F marked FSB is the correct height sight for a flat top M4 receiver and the detachable carry handle or folding rear sight."

Call CMMG and ask the Techs. They are very helpful. Contact info is on the website.

Please PM me when you get it figured out, I have one on order for my AR too.

    Good luck!!

Im using the same upper with a height adjustable rear sight... Its definitely higher than where a mbus would sit.

I'm sure you will have to adjust the front sight for elevation. .22 is not going to have the same poi as a 5.56. I've not used the MBUIS with my .22 set up so I can't really comment on that. I use LMT A2 rear sights or optics. My A2 gives me the ability to adjust for elevation for different distances.
I agree, call CMMG and ask for Lucas.

Just adjust the front sight post... Sometimes a good deal of adjustment is needed... No big deal.

Thanks everyone! Looks like the front post will adjust enough, but I won't know till I make it to the range. In the meantime, I'll drop a line to tech support and see what they say...

These are the kind of group's I'm getting:
                Eley -- sub 1" groups at 50yrds
                Federal Bulk -- ~2" groups at 50yrds
                CCI Mini Mags -- ~1.5" at 50yrds
                Remington GB's -- ~3.5" groups at 50yrds.

                All from the bench.

Yeah... I'm not the greatest bench shooter (I find it uncomfortable to shoot off bags)... I also used my Leatherman to get a rough measurement on the groups.

Like I've always said, a better shooter would probably get better groups... I'm average.

Not at all. Don't sell yourself short. I consider that great shooting considering the upper has a stock barrel.

I've purchased one direct from CMMG and one from Shadow65 (he has an Ad in the Marketplace).

Still waiting for a response and more time at the range to test the adjustment I made...

As for groups, I was shooting CCI mini-mags from a standing offhand position (no sling) and getting 4" groups at 25 yards. Not great, but almost certainly a reflection on the shooter, and not the equipment!
