A dedicated upper can be used on a standard lower. It can be set up like any other AR. Weight is the same, same trigger you are used to.
The Uramax is what it is.
The S & W is polymer. The lower cannot accomodate another upper.

I do agree, if you are simply looking for a .22 that looks like an AR, there are plenty out there.
Even Mossburgh is making one. Looks like an AR, thats it.

The guy has an extra lower and wants to get a dedicated upper...

      Why not.

      I did.

Ok, I have been pouring myself into this decision for a while. My criteria is to have a no questions asked plinker for training with any group or range that may be sketchy about OLL's. The fact is that if it is a complete .22lr upper it is not an AW plain and simple.

M&Ps, colt, sig, complete rifles do not really have identical lowers, often mag release is a bit different from true AR lowers. Why not train on the exact same system.

chiappa, although great price is out in my book because even the barrel is pot metal. If you read around you will see reviews about pits and cavities inside some of the barrels.

Next best price in my book is CMMG sierra flat top at around 350 straight From CMMG. These seem to be out of stock most places or priced too high. From CMMG direct you can also upgrade the bolt hand guards etc, and it takes pretty much spec accessories and parts.

On payday, I'm ordering a CMMG Sierra complete upper.

The CMMG uppers do seem to be the best... Best priced, most reliable (I own 2 of them now), and have the most features.

I have a TacSol upper which had issues before sending over to the manufacturer. I think the firing pin is tad longer than specs as it continues to burst fire after changing the hammer spring. After getting it back from Tacsol I have 0 failures and it runs smoothly with Federal, Winchester, Blazer and Armscor.

Lon Tuttle of TacSol was very helpful and accomodating. The turn around time was fast too.
