10/22 or 22/45???

I don't like the 22/45 nearly as much as the old MkI and MkII. So I'd got with yet another 10/22!

If it were me and I didnt already have a 22lr rifle or pistol, I'd go with the 10/22. They're fun to shoot and you can upgrade/modify it to your heart's content.

If there was only one you could have - go with the carbine.
You can always pick up a nice used MkI or MkII in good condition. There are millions of them around. The 22/45 has a somewhat dubious reputation but some people like them a lot.

I just bought a very nice early MkI for $200. It'll go nicely with my stainless MkII and the newest generation 22/45 that I never shoot.

I would go with the 22/45. I hate the new plastic triger housing on the current 10/22s. And I do believe it really is plastic not even polymer. I don't mind polymer handguns, but in a rifle I would tollerate only a polymer stock, never a trigger housing. I'll buy a used 10/22 with the nicer all metal trigger housing before I would ever even consider buying a new one with a plastic trigger housing.

Ruger please bring back the metal trigger housing. Many of us will glady pay extra for it.

But the trigger assembly on a polymer handgun is housed within the polymer also...

(plus most plastics are polymers, although there are some monomers, but neither directly relates to the strength of the material. If you're thinking about some glass reinforced nylon material or something similar, that's a composite)

2 very different beasts. Comes down to- do you want a rifle or a pistol? I voted for 10/22, most customizable firearm out there. Hi caps too( I live out of state).I also dont like the 22/45 model of the Mark lineup. Not a big fan of polymer, enough to where i swapped out the trigger group on my new 10/22 with a Volquartzen. If you put MkII instead of 22/45 that would have been tough for me. Either way you can't go wrong, both very reliable and good shooters.

If you must buy a plastic gun you can go to Clark Custom dot com and buy the OEM Ruger metal trigger housing, metal trigger, and old metal mag release for $35 ish. I learned a long time ago a good gunsmith that can do a proper trigger job on a factory group is worth his weight in gold. Forget wasting your money on Volquartsen and all those over priced groups.

10/22 then a butler folding stock )or other make) that gets you an OAL 26". you can wield the thing like a pistol with 18" barrel for hypermax velocity goodness. I call mine The Ringer.

22/45...because I have two 10/22s already (1 with a 1022fungun.com tommy gun kit, chicago-style).

If you spend more time at outdoor ranges get the rifle, more time at indoor ranges get the pistol.

Your poll is flawed there is no both option! I have both and love them equally. Admittedly I have somewhat replaced the 22/45 with my CZ Kadet kit and am thinking of getting a CZ 452 as well.
