    +10 RD Mags for 10/22's

Are high capacity mags illegal in CA for rimfire guns? I was on SKSMAN.com & saw a really cool PROMAG 50rd drum mag for Ruger 10/22's. I want it!

any hi cap mags are illegal to purchase new. you can purchase them as rebuild kits to your existing pre 2000 ban mags that needs repair.

Damn.. that sucks. I thought rimfire rifles were exempt from those silly rules! Maybe I can get a rebuild kit & a replacement case... lol

If i understand the rules correctly (please someon chime in if i'm wrong).

If you already have a Ruger 10/22 magazine that takes over 10rds (even if it's only 11rds) you can buy the 50rd drum (as a rebuild kit) and "rebuild" your older hicap with the new 50rd drum parts. But you would not be able to re-assemble your older hicap. In other words if you had a total of 5 hicap 10/22 mags pre 2000, you could hypothetically buy 5 50rd drums (as rebuild kits), take apart your existing 5 hicaps and put together the 5 50rd drums to end up with the exact same amount of hicaps as you had pre 2000. the taken apart old hicaps could not then be reassembled by you since at no time could you have more than your original 5 hicaps.

I have read on this board that the magazines should have at least one part in common, ie follower, to be legitimate.

I live in Wisconsin and I haven't had any luck with magazines besides for ruger 10-rounders. There are some metal ones that you can adjust that I'd like to try, but they're somewhere around 50 bucks. ouch!

yeah I agree with this ^, besides bigger mags for a 10/22 just means you can waste ammo at a faster rate right? I was just trying to regurgitate what i've read in previous hicap mag posts.

Who sells 10/22 rebuild kits? I haven't seen any. I got some some old plastic mags that are pretty beat up I wouldn't mind replacing the plastic portion if it was possible.

Get a couple of tri mag holders. They work great; using reliable factory ruger magazines, you have 30 rounds at your finger tips. Keeps things legal here in California. http://www.cabelas.com/catalog/large...oductId=708700

                            Winnar.

I love those, have a couple of them, and they're great to use for both bench shooting, and fun run-n-gun type stuff in the desert. Match 'em with one of those magazine releases that comes all the way around the trigger guard, and you're golden.
