i personally opt for a nice red dot; i use a Tasco pro-point on mine.
the key to a good red dot is the size MOA dot...the smallest I've seen (within reasonable prices) is 2 MOA. if you want a military grade one with 1 MOA be prepared to go into the four figure price range.
you're not going to shoot "one-hole" groups with a red dot, but they afford accuracy well enough to hunt small game out to 75-100 yds...and you could say "combat accuracy" is the norm for most red sighting devices.
if you're looking for "one hole groups", go for a good scope.
