Great little guns, lots of fun. The plain, slab side one is my trail gun, it's seen countless miles of California backwoods and 1000's of rounds of plinking. The Target model was my birthday present this year, love at first sight with those factory removable grips. A couple of my favorite shooters.

I love my 22/45. I just put a red dot on it and it is great. I just wish it was th RP model.

any recommendations of websites for aftermarket parts?

Also, is it possible to upgrade the grip frame to a metal aftermarket frame?

How did you get the RP model in Cali? It's not on the roster.

The 22/45 is just a version of the Ruger Mark III. If you buy a regular Ruger Mark III (they come in like 20 different variants) it will have a metal frame. I bought a Mark III Competition Target model.

Take a look at Rugers website, or Davidson's Gallery Of Guns.

Donny1, Im going to keep the factory LCI intact in case I ever want to reinstall it, you never know

Understood, my point is, the little metal piece and a spring IIRC I took out can be easily put back on the LCI bar, the original LCI bar is the filler it just doesn't have the tab that contacts the shell casing. If you remove the LCI you will see what I mean. I don't see the need to buy anything.

IIRC, The early models with a solid LCI were recalled due to a safety issue. If it was dropped and hit the LCI it could fire the chambered round. On all current ones the part tat contacts the shell is just a small tab that can be removed (and re-installed).

Oh ok, I was under the impression it was a tab that had to be ground/filed off the LCI piece. If thats the case I will do as you suggest

Haven't always lived here, and hopefully won't be for too long.

I love mine. Just got it about a year ago and after a short stint of HP ammo getting cut up by the feed ramp ( some emmery cloth and a dremmel buffer fixed that)... its a champ!

I really like the look of those wood grips. May add it to the Christmas list.

Is that RP the one to get? I'm in the market, and I like the looks of that one. They say panels are replaceable but it seems like the 1911 panels need a lot of work to fit, is that the case?
