There were several tube fed rifles at the AS I attended. They just treated them differently. I don't know specifically what they did as I was not one of them and they were on the other end of the line.

They teach in the style of High Power shooting, where some 10 round strings require a reload as a 1903 nor a Garand can't hole 10 rounds (the rifles national match shooting wer built around.). Not an issue with a 14-18 round tub mag so they make you eject a live round in place of doing a reload. I think the idea behind not recomending a tube fed gun is the loading/reloading. Loading a tube fed gun from the muzzle end, as most .22's are, is a more ackward, you can't do it in a shooting position, it pretty much requires you to put your your hands in front of the muzzle. Unloading and showing clear, especialy if the entire tube of ammo was not shot is much harder/longer as well.

        Kes,
I have been looking for the exact same thing for some time now.
Low and behold XSsights just introduced them for 2010.

The Appleseed Shoot sounds like a good time. I'm going to look into the October Chabot shoot.

Part of me just wants to learn how to shoot better but I will be honest with you when I say that another part of me wants the Rifleman designation badly.

I would use my scoped 10/22 but I offered it up to a friend of mine who will be attending with me. I actually feel it would not be as challenging to use a scope, like cheating... but I haven't been to an event so I cannot be for certain.

Do they allow tube feed rifles? I may end up using my tube feed Mossberg 81 which holds 16 rounds. I really do want to use my 44, but I only have 3 mags and doubt I will find any before 9/25 and work out all their bugs.
3 magazines will be just fine. that is all I had. I would stay away from the tube feed as part of the qualification is dropping magazines.

For those of you who have gone to an Appleseed Event, do they want you using a .22 over a AR-15 with irons?

No. As the previous posters have been trying to point out, they want you any way they can get you. Meaning using whatever is comfortable to YOU, not them.

10/22 795, any good well sighted 22 works well. The goal is to shoot 4 moa, sounds like a lot but it works out to 1" at 25 meters, sounds easy enough, most rack grade rifles will shoot 4 moa without tweaking so it will be up to the shooters ability to learn a new skill set.

Should be viewed as must haves, it will make the event much more enjoyable.
There is an event monthly in California, with Ladies only events about twice yearly:

Hope to see you there soon !
