Which ammo?

Which ammo is more reliable/consistant, Winchester 333 pack or Remington 525 pack?
I have a Marlin 795 and Ruger 22/45.

Between the two I'd pick the Win. I really hate Rem rimfire ammo. If you can find Blazer or CCI or Federal, IMO they are all better than those two.

I used Remington golden bullet in my 795 once, and it was terrible. I use the Winchester 333 and 555 with much better luck. I also like the Federal bulk with success.

It all depends on the gun. One of my Marlins works great with Win 333 and my buddies Marlin absolutely hates it. I would give the slight edge to the Win.

Yeah that's what I heard. I bought the Remington at the recommendations of others that have Marlins and because it was cheap at Wally World.

CCI and Federal bulk work best for me. Bought multiple brands to see what works best and always end up using those first.

Still have my first box of Win and Rem that get used when I run dry of CCI and Federal at the range and don't yet want to go home...

IMO.. Winchester & Remington makes junk BULK 22lr. Notice I said Bulk. The bullets are not crimped on the case enough and wobble around like a bobble head, High dead primer counts, and since the bullet is loose, it tends to jam ALOT.

CCI, Federal is the way to go. I didnt have more than 5 duds from a case of CCI Blazer and Federal American Eagle. I had over 30 in 1 box of Winchester, remington was about 10 per box. This was in 4 22's, and duds were usually shot twice to confirm. They jammed about 5% of the time. With Blazers or AE, only jams come when the guns have accumulated a bunch of carbon build up.


Now.. they make excellent centerfire and high end 22lr... but the bulk stuff. pay the extra dollar or two and you wont get so frustrated.

I agree. The only problem that I have with Federal is sometimes it doesn't cycle my P22 because the rounds don't have enough powder. It's hit and miss. Sometimes I'll go through a brick with no malfunctions, and sometimes within a brick half the rounds won't cycle my slide. In all my other 22's (10 of them) Federal works great.

Winchester bulk is garbage, Remington Golden Bullet is tolerable garbage, Federal is the good stuff.

I've only used one type of 22lr that gave me problems in any gun (semi-auto and manual action pistols, rifles); it was bulk Rem Golden Bullet. I had more than a few FTF in a 10/22.
