You'd probably have better luck posting a WTB ad here on Calguns or RFC. The Marlin 60 isn't a very popular platform for modification, despite all its fans.
But be prepared to pay significantly more than $45. According to this RFC thread, a guy who buys and refinishes them (much to the dislike of other members) can get around $100-140.
Heck, if anyone's handy with wood finishing, they can probably take this on as a side job.Comment

please. this is one of the easiest, most minor skill set required of a man. sand, rub, let dry, sand, rub, let dry, sand, rub, let dry, assemble gun, shoot.

bought two stocks, (pre-ordered a couple of months in advance), got them on a monday, was shooting both that weekend.

Only tedious if one is the laziest man on earth
Wood finishing is EASY, just as bothenook stated.
Once you learn to finish wood...it can not only allow you to buy BETTER furniture for your home
(Unfinished furniture are typically 1/3 the cost of finished furniture and are REAL WOOD)
it also allows you to personalize each item to conform to your home plan.
I freaking HATE Presswood/particle board.
Especially living in a Humid climate...presswood only lasts a year or two.
Real wood is the only serious option for long-lasting home furnishings.
Plus, you can build shelves anywhere from pine boards & stain/paint to complement your room.Marlin Specialist

I regularly build furniture out of recycled wood. It's my after work, after gym decompression/cooldown. Currently making a coffee table out of a Macintosh Oak 2-teried computer desk, and just competed an unfinished shelf/entertainment center project.
I have never done finishing on a rifle stock. I have instructions on how to modify this thumbhole stock for a 795, but am hopeful that one of you will be so kind as to post your materials (stain) and process for finishing.
I will finish this coffee table this weekend so I am ready for a new project!I don't know how political I am, I don't get into all that crap....I just love freedom...

This is the kind of info I was looking for, thank you!
"...stained with a classic walnut tint. Next it received eight coats of Tru-Oil with a careful fine sanding after each coat. As you may know, Tru-Oil is famous for its durable and long lasting finish."
If anyone else that did their own finishing would like to share what process and materials worked well...I don't know how political I am, I don't get into all that crap....I just love freedom...

hmm.. well maybe ill give wood finishing a chance. i did it on my wasr 10/63 ak when it still had the wood but the wood was soo scuffed up that after a few hours of sanding it was like i didnt even sand at all. probably discouraged me. i like the boyds laminated stocks but im curious as to how to get that multicolor look that ive seen on other stocksFriendship is like peeing on yourself: everyone can see it, but only you get the warm feeling that it brings.Comment

finishing a boyd's stock is easy. get the following items from the hardware store or out of the box stuck back behind the spare tire in the garage:
1 sheet 80 grit, 1 sheet 120 grit, a sheet of 300 grit, and if you are really anal, a sheet of 600 grit or 00 steel wool.
gunshop item: 1 bottle of tru-oil, or hardware store Tung Oil. i did one of each, and they both look damned good.
sand with 80, sand with 120. trial fit the parts, and remove excess materials (especially around the trigger guard) with a fine wood rasp or with 80 grit. wipe it down, and give it a big fat juicy coat. work the oil in with 120 grit sandpaper. sanding wet helps fill in any small crevices or dings with sawdust.
let sit. it goes on from here, but your best bet is to watch this video: finishing a Boyd's gunstock.
Boyd does a better job explaining than i can. i just followed his directions.sigpicComment
