I know I'm going to get grief for this, but I bought a Barska off eBay for $35. It's 3-12x by 32mm and works really well, for me. Like I previously said, it's distorted above 9x. Sometimes wish I'd have gotten 40mm, but then again a HECK of a lot better than 15mm 4x stock that came on the Marlin 60.

    It's just a 22, a very fun to shoot 22 tho..

Folks get so picky about scopes, that 90% of the time you'll get a suggestion for a scope which is 2-3x what these guns cost....

OK, not in your price range but you will not be sorry if you buy this Scope. Mueller APV 4.5-14x40 AO, $115 shipped to your door from JoeBobOutfitters.com. I have one on my Savage MKII BTVS and it is crystal clear, holds zero. The scope has fully multicoated Japanese optics and comes with a lifetime warranty that is transferable forever.

Customer service from Muller is top notch. They stand behind their scopes. Go to the Mueller website and take a look then go to RimFireCentral.com and search for "Mueller APV" for reviews, they love it over there.

Very nice. I will make one recommendation; when you install the scope, mark the position of your scope rings. This helps because the Marlin dovetails are notorious for being out-of-spec and scopes tend to "walk" to the rear.

If you find that your scope rings keep shifting to the rear, there are two thing that might resolve the issue.

          1) Scrape the paint off inside the "grove" of the rail, where the rings clamp on. This gives the rail a bit more bite. Loctite might help as well.

          2) Buy a leapers 1-piece mount. Both my friend and I have these on our scoped Marlins and it solved all our walking issues.
We've got a great price on Leapers Accushot 1-Pc Mount w/1" Rings, High, 11mm Dovetail at Pyramyd AIR. Shop where the experts do!

You may want to look at Midway under either centerfire or rimfire rifle scopes as they will list customer reviews of the scopes offered. Keep in mind some folks think a $50.00 scope should be perfect and will review harshly, others are happy so long as the reticle doesn't shift. After you read a review or two you may be able to find the same scope for less $$$. EA Brown is running a sale on some of their scopes to include Mueller and Hawke. The Mueller is an excellent scope for the $$$.

TASCO scopes have always been a horror story for me...heck, if you were close, I've got one I'd GIVE you.

The Center Points are pretty nice, just make sure you get one that hasn't been opened and
              READ THE INSTRUCTIONS!!!
People are famous for NOT reading the Instrs and they pretty much immediately break the locking adjusters...
which means...they won't hold zero after they break.

Unlock...adjust...relock. Pretty simple. But if you do anything else...CRACKLE.
Then it has to go back to the factory for repairs. So stick to the plan

haha - I've been trying to find that link for a while!! My rings haven't moved, but I haven't jostled or bumped the gun around yet..
