    22lr magazines

Are 22lr magazines limited to 10 rounds in California? I'm thinking of an 22 conversion for my AR...

Yes. All firearms are limited to 10 round magazines.

However, I believe that tube-fed .22lr rifles are exempt from this, but if you had a tube-fed AR at the range I would stand behind you and laugh at you until you got frustrated and left

To clarify: If you owned the magazine prior to the ban then it is legal to use in your AR15 22lr conversion setup. When using the conversion you may even drop magazines freely, so a mag lock device is not needed. Now when you switch back to shooting a center fired cartridge make sure you put a mag lock on prior to assembling and attaching your upper to your lower, or you will be assembling an assault weapon.

There are many guys on these boards who have dedicated 22lr ARs that drop freely their ceiner mags that they have owned prior to the ban. what is great about owning ceiner mags prior to the ban, is that you can rebuild them using the more reliable blackdog mag parts.
