    Looking for best .22 upper

I am staggering away from paying yet another visa bill that is loaded with some of my ammo bills and giving serious consideration to building a dedicated .22 mforgery. I have the spare lower now. I thought that some you might be able to point me in the right direction for purchasing an upper that is the best bang for the buck. I've heard good things about Spikes but chime in with your own favorites. My intent is to set it up identical as my .223. Thanks BTW not adverse to buying used.

I have a tactical solutions, and it is awesome. I have shot a number of different uppers, and liked it the best bye far.

Heard great things about the Spikes, I have a Tactical Solutions M4 upper. Love it. Would recommend it to anyone (just be sure to put a smooth hammer in it).

this was the best price when I picked it up: http://www.gunkings.com/index.php?ma...roducts_id=582

I have a complete Spikes Tactical ST-22 SD model and is now 2 years old. It's been problem-free and a dream to shoot since day one

After shopping around for quite a while, I finally decided on the Tactical Solutions M4 upper. The quality of manufacturing is a cut above every other manufacturer out there. In the end it came down to a choice between the TacSol and the Spikes. The TacSol won. It's just a nicer upper. Much nicer.

Thanks for input guys So far this little poll leans heavily towards the Tactical Solutions unit. I have not seen too many used for sale in recent times. Buying new does have the advantage of not buying somebody elses lemon.

Just keep in mind that anything involving .22 can and will be finicky at some point.

With .22lr uppers there are two things that tend to work to give you amazing reliability.

1.) Make sure you have a "rounded" or M16-style hammer.
2.) Switch out your hammer/trigger/disconnector springs for the JP lightweight yellow springs

Copy that, I happen to have some light springs in my parts bin. The rock river lpks have smooth triggers, GTG! Just need 500 clams to throw at it. You would think with all the .22 mcforgeries out there that the competition would lower costs on quality uppers, undoubtably wishful thinking.

There are some cheaper .22lr uppers out there, but the quality just isn't up to the Spikes/TacSol par.

The CMMG upper looks very promising and is $350 for the base model...

I had a older Tacsol M4 upper which initially had FTE, stove piping & double feeing issues. Called up their tech support and they sent me a new BCG to replace the older one which solved all of the problems. With the new BCG it was really reliable, accurate and lot of fun to shoot but sold it since wife didn't like the heavy weight.

If you are looking to buy a used Tacsol upper, make sure it has the newer BCG. Don't really know what improvements were made on the newer BCG but it made a huge difference.

They're $350 on the CMMG site.

I really dont think you can go wrong with either TacSol or Spikes. I have a Spikes and its almost 100% reliable. I dont know anything about the newer CCMG's but they do look promissing.
