Just installing a volquartson hammer will make a night and day difference in your trigger pull and it won't break the bank. Mark

and can i install it myself or do i have to turn my ruger over to a gunsmith for 6 weeks again. (i took my remington 1100 12ga in for a center beed and it took 6 weeks to get it back )

I'm not too sure about trigger or match hammers, but either one would probably be better the OEM hammer.

Most of the modifications are pretty simple to figure out. YouTube has a few videos on how to disassemble and reassemble your trigger group. Once you figure out the guts of the trigger assembly, you'll be able to strip it down and put it together in a few minutes. The only real tricky part is dropping in the trigger/sear/disconnector without having it fall apart on you. YT has a video demonstrating how to use a small piece of plastic (like weed wacker line) to create a trigger sub-assembly to facilitate the drop-in of the trigger and then inserting the cross pin to hold everything in. This may sound complicated, but it's really easy. YouTube taught me how to strip down my 10/22 trigger.

The stock trigger on the 10/22 is pretty heavy and replacing the stock hammer with an aftermarket is a great suggestion. If your 10-22 was purchased new (new ones have a plastic tigger guard), there is a good chance that you have hammer with the bushings built into it. So when/if you order a new hammer, you'll have to get the plastic bushings too. Shooters discount sells them and they're pretty cheap if I remember correctly. Just need to get to of them for each side. Volquartsen or Power Custom are good choices. Around $30 or so I think. You can also cut a coil from the trigger plunger spring to lighten the pull. Polishing the head of the plunger also helps.

If you haven't done so already, you might want to change the stock bolt release with an auto bolt release. That way you can close the bolt with a simple pull of the bolt handle and not fiddle with the switch in front of the trigger guard. Any manufacturer (e.g. Power Custom, Volq, Christies) is probably a safe bet. Takes about two minutes to put that part in. Another cheap modification is changing the bolt buffer out with a buffer made of softer material (e.g. polyurethane). The idea behind that is the OEM bolt buffer is metal and it absorbs the the impact of the bolt when it cycles. The softer material protects against the metal to metal impact. Once again, Volq makes them, or you can get a Tuffer Buffer or anything similar. Couple of bucks for that part.

I think you'll be surprised of the simplicity of the 10/22 trigger once you disassemble/reassemble it. Not as intimidating as one would think.

10/22 ownership is a money pit, but I love it. Good luck and have fun with that great little rifle!

Just the hammer alone will lower your trigger pull down to less than 3lbs. Now if you want to spend a little more buy the hammer and sear set. Mark

Yep, installed the VQ hammer in the wife's 10/22 and pull is now 3 lb. I spent the extra buck for the hammer + bolt release so now we can slingshot the bolt forward like every other decent gun.

The bipod is fine. I have it on my Ruger and I don't have problems =P
