Doesn't matter if they're "pre-ban", since they aren't banned. The sale, manufacture, and importation is banned, not possession. He can have and use them.

Even if he did the statute of limitations is 3 years on that.

Possession is not illegal, let him enjoy his mags.

Most crimes must be charged within a certain amount of time after they were committed. For violations of California's "large-capacity magazine" law, the statute of limitations is three years from the date that the violation occurred.

Possession and use of large-capacity magazines is not a crime in California. Manufacturing, importing, selling, giving and lending large-capacity magazines are all crimes in California.

Did they make steel lips back in the 90's or just the plastic?

Anybody know what year they started to make steel lips?

I was going to ask this but didn't want to start a new thread...

I wish steel lip rebuild kits existed. My plastic lips are hmm iffy at best.

Not sure when they started making steel lips but I know it's got to be before 2000 because I own a few of them and I cleaned out the stock at the local sporting goods store on these 25 rounders I use to work at back in 1999 just before the AW ban. I would have bought other stuff but minimum wage back in 1999 barely paid for my gas and car payment. I couldn't even afford the 10/22 yet. Bought that in 2000.

If you're worried about it, just sand off all the logos, trademarks, lettering, etc. and paint them black, then there is no way of anybody telling how old the mags are.

I asked this and there is no law apparently about sanding the lettering off a magazine and painting them. Serial number on a gun is a whole different story though.

Now how about this one. What year did BC start selling smoke colored mags?

Yes, you can use it in your AR as long as your AR is featureless and without a mag lock. (fixed magazine centerfire rifles that hold more than 10 rounds are assault weapons in California) You can also use it in any registered assault weapon ARs that you own.

Does anybody know when Tactical Innovations came to the market? Specifically the polymer mags? I think the aluminum ones are relatively new, but they can still be used for rebuilds, right?
