may be stupid question, but what is that on the end of your barrel and what is its purpose?

One drawback is that they are haveing to allocate a set # of guns per store. So if you call one store and they say they are out, it might just be that location. I know you didn't ask me, but that's a compensator. It's supposed to reduce recoil. I don't know if it does that, but sometimes there's one on the end of my 22/45. It adds weight and noise, making it easier for the timer to pick up the shots.

BTW, to the OP, you might want to check out rimfirecentral.com. There's a lot of information about rimfires.

These are great pistols- I bought a MKII 22/45 from turners yrs ago.

I do not recomment the 6 7/8" slab side as it's kind of muzzle heavy- thats what I have- The ONLY gripe is the weight out front with the thick longer barrel. A shorter barrel would be perfect.

The VQ sear will take a good trigger and make it a GREAT trigger for about $33 or so. Only mod you need, though the extractor may help.

Rimfire-central is an excellent resource for any 22 /17 info.

                    Dont worry though!!!!!!

Those in socal, can go to the rahaages gun show and get coupon books that have great prices on a number of brands- including ruger usually. So it's not a 1 time sale price probably....

For those of you up north- Turners has some deal going on with ruger to sell guns at a very good price quite frequently. They often have ruger products on sale because of their deal they get from ruger. I got my mkII and a pair of 10/22's for unbeatable prices from them because of this. I dont know the nature of this relationship, but you see great prices on ruger at turners quite frequently.

I would do both the VQ sear and trigger. The VQ trigger has pre-travel and over-travel screws and makes the trigger feel almost as good as the one on my S&W 945. I hardly ever shot mine with the stock trigger it sucked so bad, but now that I installed the VQ parts, it is pure joy to shoot. Get the VQ Accurizing kit for the MKII ($89.99 from Midway) and the VQ hammer bushing for the MKII ($5.99 from Midway). Using the MKII kit and hammer bushing in the MKIII will eliminate the magazine safety, which will allow the magazines to drop freely when you change mags rather than having to claw them free. Here is a link on how to completely dissasemble the 22/45.

More info on the accurizing kit and removal of the mag safety can be found on the Ruger forum.

                      Enjoy your new guns

Here is a fyi for all of you who have or are planning to buy the Ruger: You now need to buy the "Ultimate Cliploader" by McFadden Machine. If you go to the link, you will see the various .22 pistols it can be used on.

I have one that a member here gave me as he wasn't using it and it is great for loading the mags. I have put 100 rounds into it and loaded my 8 mags in about 6 seconds for each one. It certainly saves the thumb!

The only downside is since you can load the mags so fast, you end up shooting more, so you have to buy more ammo sooner.

The speedloaders are fun when you get the hang of them.

I have a 22/45 and it's one of my favorite pistols. It shoots great and gives hours of cheap intertainment. It's also my wifes favorite gun. Honestly, it seems like whenever someone shoots it for the first time they instantly like it. Great gun, and I'll have it for my kids to learn on.

Is that a hogue grip? Im actually picking up a MK II slab sided target model with 6 7/8in barrel this coming tuesday looks just like yours.... Sans the sight and grip of course.

My mostest shot gun, but my 22/45 occasionally will not feed some hollowpoints, so I tend to shoot roundnose almost exclusively. Very fun!
