Kimber w/ adjustable sights -
My vote would go to the Marvel for accuracy. Marvel is on par with a S&W model 41. But, because of the tight match chamber, you have to keep the chamber relatively clean to keep reliability up to snuff. The mags are the same for the marvel as the ones for a Colt Ace or Colt 45/22 conversion with the loading button on the spring ground off a bit. The Kimber is basically the same as the Ciener unit...they function OK, but accuracy is so-so. The Colt conversion ( if you can find one) work well, but is not equal to Marvel in accuracy. Haven't tried the AA myself for the 1911, and haven't run into anyone with it.sigpicComment

I love my Marvel kit. It's very accurate and reliable as long as I feed it CCI Mini Mags.Comment

Good timing as I'm also looking for the same thing but I want fixed sights.
I think I saw the Kimber kit is on sale in the midwayusa flyer. I've been using my friends Kimber on my 1911 and it's been almost 100% with the cheap federal bulk pack.Comment

I've got a Kimber conversion. It's not quite reliable enough for me to use in competition, but it is fun and accurate enough for plinking. A lot of the Marvels I've seen are accurate, but have some reliability problems. Tactical Solutions is making a conversion also. It seems to be the latest "hot" item for steel challenge.
BTW, I talked to the owner of Advantage Arms last year and he told me that he's now making the Marvel conversions.Comment

I believe you misunderstood. Bob Marvel is no longer affiliated with the company that produces Marvel Conversion kits, marvel precision. Now Bob Marvel sells Advantage Arms conversion kits that he's worked over.
My marvel unit 1 was more accurate and reliable than my unit 2. I fed the unit 1 all types of ammo. With the unit 2 I'm stuck using mini-mags.

I'm very pleased with my AA 1911 Target model. No issues with FTE/FTF. Put 500+ rounds thru it, love it.sigpicComment

I have two Marvel unit 1's, two Day Arms 30X, Advantage Arms target model (not Bob Marvel), and a Colt .22 conversion.
The Day Arms and the Marvel's are pretty darn close accuracy wise. The edge goes to the Marvel's. One has a 0.45" test button and the other is 0.64" at 50 yards. My groups and scores on a 50 yard slow fire target are about the same, around 85 - 88 points which is pretty crappy for bullseye.
My Advantage Arms conversion doesn't seem to have the inherrent accuracy of a Marvel, even though the design is very similar. I suspect the barrels and chambers on a Marvel are held to tighter tolerances. The nice thing about the AA conversion is the slide locks on an empty mag.
I keep the Colt conversion just because it's a Colt and it does have the floating chamber to increase felt recoil. It's a plinker and that's about it.
If you can find the Bob Marvel AA unit, I'd say that's the one to get. I had one on order over a year ago, but I guess it got lost.NRA Life Member

I have a kimber 22 conversion kit for my SA 1911. Works great. I put a couple hundred rounds of CCI mini mags thru it first and now it eat's just about anything I feed it.Ray
