Why can't you have more? Seriously though, it's an accurate gun. Minute of squirrel is all that's required, and the 717 far exceeds that expectation. I don't think you can call a varmint killing collection complete without one!

Good thing you got an accutrigger on the Savage. I like them.

My stock Marlin 917 trigger was crap, so I replaced it with a Rifle Basix. Night and day difference. The wind sets that thing off.

I haven't done a thing to the 717 other than overscope it. It looks ridiculous, and I should find something smaller.

I already have the Savage. I got a steal on it I could not pass up. If I posted the price here I would never be able to sell it here so I keep that on the down low. I like bolt actions better also for their accuracy and mine is a bull barrel so I am sure I will get dime sized groups at 100 yards. Not to say a semi is not good I just prefer bolt actions.

I won mine as an NRA door-prize years ago. Bolted the Hubble Jr. to it and amuse myself by shooting the staples out of my associates targets.

Scope and ring setup

I have the same scope/ring setup on my Savage MKII BVTS 22lr. Scope is the APV by Mueller, $125 delivered to your door. Nice glass. Check out rimfirecentral.com for reviews. They have a lovefest for this scope over there. I like it, very clear and the company has great customer service. Check their website they have several different scopes. The scope are assembled in China but the glass is Fully Multicoated made in Japan (according to the owner of Mueller). Rings are (I believe) Burris Signature Rings (I used the HIGH ones). A little pricey (around $35 IIRC) but great rings.

I've got a Savage 93R17 Stainless, heavy barrel with a BSA Sweet 17 and I don't like the scope at all plus I'd like to match up the stainless too.
