Just bought a Savage 17HMR Today

Just bought a Savage 17HMR w/out accutrigger Today.

Man I have bought a lot of guns this year. I will post pics later.

Anyone have any magazines for this? What is a good price to pay for these?

What do you hunt with yours?

      How is yours set up?

I am going to use mine for coyotes and Groundhogs when I go back to Missouri.

this is the biggest game so far. got him the day after thanksgiving. he was plotting on my quail

i saw him sneaking around the barn and dropped him like a used rubber at 122 paces.

i shoot a few squirels and a few voles but like i said, i only shoot off my porch. i have a health condition that doesn't allow me to cover a lot of ground anymore but it hasn't stopped my shooting. i switched to handguns and do pretty well there too.
i learned a new grip in a class on saturday. this is with one of my carry guns. 229 in .357 sig. hardest round for me to master out of 5.

        i'm getting there

That is a fun little rifle and they are spot on accurate. I picked one up a Big5 about two years ago for $179.00 out the door. They only had the shelf model left in stock so the manager gave me an additional 15% off the sale price. Mine came with the accu-trigger. I would love to know how you like the standard trigger after you get a chance to put some rounds through it.

The going rate on magazines for these guys is around $20. Cabella's has them available on their website but they will probably be on the higher side of the price spectrum.

I find the 20gr. hollow point Hornady group a little tighter than the 17gr. stuff inside of 100 yards. 17gr. is a little better IMO for longer ranges and my preference is the CCI stuff. Squirrels and groundhogs are tons of fun to shoot with this thing. Once they wise up and disappear I start shooting at shotgun primers to see if I can get the shell to fire with about a 70% success rate.

My advice to you would be to stock up on ammo. It can be hard to find at times but nothing really to worry about, just nice to have some on hand.

          Enjoy

          Cheapie 4 x 16 barska on top.

Cabela has the double mags for 34.99. Save a little if you get 2 instead of 1.

I got mine last year for 249, a left handed model with accutrigger.

Now I am officially jealous...I didn't know I could get a left handed version.

They're nice little rifles aren't they?!

I bought my BV a couple of years ago - it got so popular with friends & family I had to buy another .17HMR for myself (I hate sharing).
I wound up replacing the Accutrigger with a Rifle Basix tho. I found I just didn't like the Accutrigger with the glock "thingy" in the middle.
Post pics - you're gonna like it.

I am probably going to install a timney on it if I can find one.

Just saw a Savage 17 hmr, synthetic stock, accutrigger with a blue bull barrel on sale for $249 at Big 5. Use a 10% off coupon found on this site and it makes it cheap.

Kind of a dumb question; Does anyone make an iron sight for this rifle? Oh, sorry for thread jacking.
