    .22 recommendations please

well i want to buy a new .22 rifle and need some recommendations, my .22 now is an old Winchester .22 mag model 275 with an older than dirt Bushnell 4x scope, this is the gun my grandpa gave me when we used to shoot squirrels as a kid and its time to upgrade.

any info or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

what are you going to do with the rifle? what kind of shooting do you do know or hope to do in the future?

if you don't get a ruger 10/22 you'll wish you did. it has the most after market accessories and the cheapest parts. They are reliable, accurate, and not very expensive. I got a Mossberg 702 to save money and i wish i just went with a 10/22. just save yourself the trouble now and get it. there's a reason it's the best selling .22lr semi auto

Most civilization is based on cowardice. It's so easy to civilize by teaching cowardice. You water down the standards which would lead to bravery. You restrain the will. You regulate the appetites. You fence in the horizons. You make a law for every movement. You deny the existence of chaos. You teach even the children to breathe slowly. You tame.

                      Yep, what he said.

I was originally going to get a Remington 597, then I hopped over to the bolt action Savage MkII FV, then eventually decided the 10/22 was the best way to go, and I have no doubts right now that it was the better of the three choices.

I love my 10/22's but if you want a higher grade rifle the CZ's are great as are my Anschutz and Walther meister busch. It is easy to invest enough money in a 10/22 to buy a high grade rifle.

My Marlin 795 is an awsome gun, never lets me down and fairly inexpensive. I love it and then again I also love my 10/22.

X2 --I've seen many 10/22s with $800 in upgrades to try to make them into an Anschutz. For the money, a CZ is pretty darn good out of the box as are the newer Savages.

LOL, I specifically avoided getting a 10/22 just so I wouldn't be tempted to dump entire paychecks into the aftermarket mods
