But Cali law still doesnt allow hi-cap mags in rimfire. Anything over 10 rounds is considered illegal. Tube fed is the only way to legally use more than 10 rounds or to have owned the hi-cap mags before the ban date. Just dont be stupid like some stories ive heard about guys saying they had preban GSG 5 hi-cap mags. LOL The rifle didnt exist before the ban so it is impossible to own mags for it before the date. They just implicated themselves

Is that ok? I mean I have thought of taking one of my old Ceiner mags and re-building to the 50 rd drums... Would be sweet.

What's your level of comfort under possible police scrutiny?

              * Some people believe that you should be able to show a clear transition path from Mag A to Mag B.. meaning that at least one part from Mag A should function correctly with components from Mag B. Under this belief, you could convert a USGI mag to a Magpul PMag but not necessarily a USGI mag to an AK mag.

              * Others play more fast and loose and say a hicap mag is like any other hicap mag. As long as you have the same number or less of mags before as after, the burder of proof lies with the govt. Perhaps these are the same folks that claim to have pre-ban GSG5 mags.

Personally, I wouldn't do it unless I needed to (i.e.: something broke). You may feel otherwise. It's your life.

That is clearly illegal, and I don't know of anyone that would do that.

As to going from a butler creek (which most of my 10/22 hi-caps are) to a Black Dog, the followers should be compatible, so there is a pretty clear and easy path to a rebuild.

That's how I rebuilt all my Ciener hi-caps to BDM's. The followers are nicely compatible.

The older ones supposedly hold 18 in the tube (I think the cut-off year was in the 80s) but you can't buy one now unless somebody's selling theirs.
Pre-1984 Marlin Glenfield 60 holds 18+1 in the tube. Check pawn shops and Private Firearms Sales section here on Calguns. Marlin have manufactured over 11 million Model 60's since 1960. You shouldn't have too many problems finding one.

I have an old glenfield marlin 60. Seems more like 17+1. Shoots great, but I rarely it shoot these days since it developed feeding issues and am too lazy to get the feed throat conversion. I think I got it for $110 OTD from a pawn shop.

Just tried loading my '74 Glenfield 60, and it definitely takes 18+1.

                            Are you talking autos only?

I just bought a Marline 981 bolt action that holds (in the tube) 25 rounds of .22 short, or 17 rounds of .22LR

Thing was $300 bucks out the door.

If I were only in possession of a hi-cap mag today that was manufactured yesterday, I wouldn't be in violation of any CA law. Only the person who transferred it to me, caused it to be imported into or manufactured within the state would be.

Well, now you got me really wanting the one for sale at my local FFL. It only has the wood stock and military foregrip so it won;t be as cool as yours for awhile.
