Load up a few hundred rounds by hand before you get the Ultimate Cliploader so you can properly appreciate it.

Here's the best source of information on disassembly/reassembly I've found. If you've never done it before it's not easy to do. Just go slow and take your time.

Once you've done it twenty times it's real easy. Also you'll probably need a plastic hammer or a piece of 2x4 to hammer on it when it's brand new. It'll loosen up after you use it a while and take it apart a few times.

Mine never has liked Remington Golden Bullets. Everything else works great.

+1 on the light oil. My other hobby is cars where more oil = better for the most part. Not so with the MKIII. I started out covering it in oil and it would get gunked up quicker and lead to some stovepipe issues. I took it easy on the oil lately and no jams.

Assembly is not bad - but the part that got me at first was having to reinsert the magazine before closing the mainspring housing. Just follow the instructions closely.

just got home with it and was looking at the parts diagram. it does look tedious to dissassemble/assemble. being a auto mechanic my self i am a chronic over lubricator. cant wait till i can move my right arm again so i can shoot it . i am just blown away at how helpful and friendly every one on this site has ben so far thanks to all of you . special thanks to jarhead995 for making me laugh my *** off this a.m.

I Agree with all the coments mentioned above what a great gun . I too had trouble with disassembly so I broke it down to this simple instruction.
Quick disassembly and reassembly.

.Insert empty clip, cock and pull trigger.
.Hammer must be up ( down, horizontal is cocked)
.remove mag
.remove bolt stop
.remove bolt
.tap frome directly below barrel


Assembly
.hammer must be horizontal
.place barrel on frame
.tap rear of frame forward
.slide bolt in
.insert mag point gun down and pull trigger
.push hammer all the way forward
.insert bolt stop
.turn muzzle up and pull trigger
.close bolt stop as far as it will go
.release trigger, remove mag close bolt stop.
.done

If you run into a condition where it seems to misfire alot tap the cross pin from the bolt and clean under the firing pin. This worked for me.

Well after all your guy's comments and the fact that Turner's had them on sale for only $279 with the 5-1/2" bull barrel i bought one yesterday. Now I just have to wait the dam ten days to pick it up. ( man I hate not living in WA state anymore).

As if you didn't already know, the MK family of Rugers are Pure Fun too. Accurate and Pure Plinking Pleasure. And like someone else mentioned, when reassembling your MKIII and you need to uncock it, mag in or if you can in the PRK, have the mag disconnect removed. I AM NOT ADVISING TO DO ANYTHING ILLEGAL, AS PER CALIFORNIA LAW.

One more thing, get a lot of mags and ENJOY OFTEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll add that if you're MKIII 22/45 is one of the few that jams even with high quality ammo, look into a Volquartsen extractor. It worked wonders in mine and only cost about $11. Now it's my favorite pistol to shoot.

Youtube is your friend. after watching three different videos and dissasembling mine twice it clicked and I'm not afraid to clean it. Not that you have to often. Mine will eat over 1K in a day without any issues.

this is a great time to learn how to shoot lefty . i agree this site is very helpful and friendly. i'm still debating if i should get this or a 10/22 for my daughters 1st gun.

I picked mine up last week took it home and first thing I did was took it apart an cleaned it. It took a rubber mallet to get it apart. I had to watch the videos on u-tube while doing it. Reassembly was a ***** to say the least took about 45 minutes and about 5 tries but finally got it back together. took it to the range the next day put a 500 round box of federal bulk pack through it. Not a single ftf or fte. The gun was very acurate and even my brother that is a total noob could shoot it pretty good.

Now the bad. The whole having to press the slide release button down while pulling the slide back is a pain that needs to be fixed first. Then the fact that the mags do not drop free because of the mag disconnect is the seconde fix. Will definitely like to change the front sight to a fiber optic for faster aiming. And then maybe in the future a triger upgrade to smooth that out.

Then once move to the free world a pac-lite barrel and silencer.

i have put about 1500 rounds through it . only problem i had was ammo. i had some old pmc ammo that gave me a couple ftf. but the gun is a sweet little pistol. i put a little white out on the front sight and filled in the little groove on the rear with it also. it made a big difference in the indoor range. i would like to put some diffrent sights on it but for now its fine . its nice when a gun just fits your hand, and you check your targets and are shocked you shot so well.

Bought one Sunday, in my 10 day wait. The Rimfire.com folks are saying change the trigger, I may do that, I dont know yet I have always liked keeping my guns stock, we will see. I have a Buckmark as well, great gun.

I have the Hiviz front sight on both of my Ruger MKII & MKIII and what a difference this thing can do. For one thing, it helps new shooter to locate the target and improves their shooting. For $30, it's worth every penny.
