I am eyeballing the 522. I was hoping the HK/Umarex things would be worth picking up but I'm not getting my hopes up.

The SR22 is an option (never owned a 10/22, but I've got several high-caps somehow). It's just not as cool as the 522.

Yeah, a lot of rumor and parotting goes on over the interwebz...

Hundreds of thousands of M-16s were supplied to U.S. troops in the mid-1960s as US Army made the M-16 their standard rifle.

after considering a gsg myself, ended up getting a sig 522

when trying to acquire bullseye @ 25+ yds no bench or brace was able to hit center of the target w/my second round attempted

dang it?!?!? wishing these were clearer (captures taken in washington state)
lousy camera phone capture . there is a 2x2" square in the center of the paperplate & round went directly through dead center of square

let me get the dot sighted in w/bench & rest which should reveal how high quality the weapon can achieve under ideal conditions

I get that kind of accuracy at 50 yds occasionally - With my BRNO Mod 4, a 20x Leupold, $10/box ammo on a calm day when my fortune cookie says very favorable things about me.

A toy rimfire rifle isn't going to do 1/2 MOA unless you're talking 50 inches, not yards...
+1. If you want a target gun then buy a target gun (CMP sold a bunch last December). If you want a fun plinker then buy one of the tacticool guns.
