    Pinning a mag

Hi guys. I stumbled across a website that lets you order a complete standard cap magazine and have it disassembled for shipment as a rebuild kit. It has all the parts, and i know assembling it as-is (25 rds) would be a felony, however, can I drill/roll pin it to only accept 10 rounds legally?

If originally and permanently assembled that way I don't see the issue, but please, someone with more years of knowledge correct me if I'm wrong...

Yes, this is very common to buy these broken down "kits". Many guys sell the pMag kits here (the only ones I use and many, many use).

Once you get the kit, 2 ways to make it legal to have in CA assembled:

    1. buy one of the block kits that would block the mag to 10 rounds only - here is one example I use and think is great
    2. read the "sticky" located here on CG under the "Gun SMithing" section that can tell you how to make a mag a 10 round (cut a rod, epoxy to the follower, epoxy floor plate closed) 10/20 or 10/30 mag out of a kit

BTW, there are people here that already sell nice, converted, CA legal 10/20 or 10/30 mags done for you

look/search here for the member "Monitor"

he sells at a good price and has a huge thread on the pMag kits

he is not the only one though, there are several in the "Marketplace"

Gents, please read up on the laws before diving in. There are a lot of info to chew on & understand.

Go to the Rifle section & look up Oaklander's sticky about how not to get in trouble with an OLL.

Also on the top of the page, go through the flowcharts & guides.

There are a lot of info on how to pin your mag kits to 10 rounds.

Welcome & stay legal & safe.
