I've got the Colt M4 OPS, excellent- must be broken in, most hated .22 on the net, almost all haters don't have one....I have a 10/22 excellent, Henry .22 lever, excellent. All .22's are good if broken in properly and the right ammo found....

What's worse about the SIG522 is you can't even mount a front sight anywhere except on the picatinny receiver rail. There is no provision for a front sight where it should be, just forward of the front hand guard. Now that is just plain lame. I'm sure SIG will come out with a 522 version that can accommodate their $200 plus front/rear sight combo. You'll have one expensive .22 rifle, however. I was really looking forward to the SIG, now I'm stumped. It's well made, but come on, no friggin' front sight?Well, I have the Colt M4 .22, the GSG-5, and have recently bought the new SIG SG522 (10 day wait). Both the Colt and the GSG-5 are reliable and accurate but cost a pretty penny. Personally, I would get the S&W over the Ruger. Basically what you are getting is high priced frame and that is it. The SIG SG522 has been criticized for not coming with iron sights.....neither does the SR-22!!!! The SR-22s that I have seen for sale are pretty pricey too. Besides, you guys really think the Ruger looks like an AR? NOT!!!!!!!!!!
At least with the SR-22 you can put some fairly well priced BUIS on there and pre-2000 high cap mags for my 10/22 are in abundance. But the SR22 is still just a fixed up 10/22.
I noticed the S&W had the lead in the poll. Does it even take Black Dog mags? Or it's own proprietary mags?
I've seen all kinds of problems with the Umarex imported, Walther made, Colt clone. Including one bought at Turner's that Umarex USA refused to fix under warranty, blaming the owner for somehow modifying it and thus voiding the warranty?
Don't know beans about the Remington. But it's the most boring looking one of the bunch.Last edited by beemaze; 11-30-2009, 11:35 PM.

Just picked up the s&w this past saturday and took it to the range the next day. I had some female friends that came along shooting for the first time and were placing shots rounds after rounds into the 9/10 ring of the NRA official 25yds pistol target, but shooting from 50 yards out. They had a great time and was down to do it again. Gun was basically stock out of the box w/ aimpoint red dot and ran on Federal Bulk ammo. Guns light weight, easy tear down as an AR, and if girls like it, it's always a +1.

Have 4 10/22s and a Colt M4. The colt out of the box was scary accurate and no problems with ammo. As stated before, those that hate em' don't own one!
What do you want it for? Plinking? Get a regular 10/22.
AR wanna be? Then S&W or Colt

The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

+1ruger of course
if you ever decide to upgrade you have tons of choices for ruger. from what i read, even the barrells are interchangeable, so your options just went way higher.

If you get tired of the .22 in this configuration, with a Ruger 10/22 you can easily change it to another config. One of the reasons I think I see so many of the other 22s for sale used is that they get tired of it and want something else.RIP Louis Awerbuck. I miss you and your training.Comment
