    Stubborn Fouling

I got my DW 22 barrel bore soaked with Hoppe's #9, because the regular Hoppes and Break Free bore cleaner did not get the stubborn fouling out even after brushing the bore with a brass Hoppe's bore brush. If the #9 doesn't get the fouling out the Rembore will be the next step. Sorry for the rant, just need to vent.

Try Wipe Out. It takes time, but works really well.

This chemically treated cloth is ideal for removing tough lead and carbon build-up. Excellent for removing burn rings on cylinders and on stainless st

do you cut it into patches, or what?

when i get stubborn fouling in a barrel, i give it a healthy dose of more shooting. it doesnt take the fouling out, but it sure is fun... that and blue wonder. if it's got an armadillo on the tube, it's got to be good... right?

This reminds me. I need to RECLEAN my Mosin. I went shooting on thursday and it seemed like everytime I put another hoppes soaked brush down it I'd get the grimiest patch you'd ever seen out of it. That was after a 3 rounds of Gunslick foaming bore cleaner...good god...that bore hates me I swear it

lol...I have one of those...clean patches for a day, then dirty again. Stooopid guns. I hate/love them.

For the really dirty ones..plug the barrel, stand it up on the muzzle, fill it with Hoppes and let it sit for a day or two.

try using Ed's Red. If you're absolutely convinced solvents just aren't going to cut it, then you can try electric bore cleaning. It uses electrolysis to clean out the gunk. I used this method to clean out a heavily fouled Mosin Nagant and it worked really, really well.

You attach the positive lead to your barrel (positively charged barrel). The negative lead to a metal rod in the barrel. (negatively charged rod). Plug the barrel and fill it with ammonia and let it sit for 10-15 minutes. The rod cannot be touching the barrel.

I got so obsessed with this method that I burned out a 12V DC adapter by leaving it on too long.

they make kroil in aerosol cans also, if you want to spray it around. we have it at my work. they have kroil with silicone too! kroil is great for lots of stuff, never tried it on a gun, though. i dont steal from my work, and im too cheap to buy some.

out of curiosity, does anyone know if ultrasonic cleaning will work/harm the barrel?

unless steel is brittle, I don't think it will do any harm. Work...I have no idea.
