I went several times in the early summer before the squeaks went down for their hibernation (they hibernate from when the weather starts getting hot to early spring). I had a .204 Ruger and a .17 HMR. at times the shooting would be fast and furious and I would have to switch rifles to let one cool. thinking about taking along a air rifle and a Thompson Contender Encore Pro Hunter in .22-250 this coming year.
if you go take way more ammo than you think you will need, take a sturdy and comfortable bench and chair to shoot off (I spent from early morning until the sun went down in the field one day) take something to shade you with (there are almost no trees around for any shade). and get written permission from the land owner. I also had a snake hook and tongs to get squeaks out of their holes and reposition them for pictures. it can be tough to time your hunt for when there is decent weather and the grass/alfalfa is not too high to see the squeaks. have fun!

                          I'm definitely in on this.

I'm only a couple of hundred miles away - maybe we could figure out a car-pool of sorts??

                          Bringing two .17HMR's, .223, & a couple of .22lr's.

                          Must buy more ammo!
