    Getting a pac-lite MKIII

Can I get one in cali? It will be my second pistol, and I know the laws for pistols here are messed up but Im new to dealing with them. The pac-lite upper is serialized, so it would have to be on the "Not un-safe" list, correct? Just wondering how I could get one in california. I noticed one for sell in the marketplace, I might get that one, but is there anyway I can order one into cali?

You can buy one that is already owned by somebody in California via a PPT. You have to meet with the seller at an FFL for that. Or an out of state resident grandparent, parent, child or grandchild of yours can gift you one by sending it to your local California licensed dealer with a note explaining that it is a gift. You just need to make sure in advance that your local FFL understands how to process such a gift as a roster exempt transaction. Many FFL's don't know about this.

I guess you could also try the "single shot" roster exemption route. You'd have to get the Pac-Lite upper with the 6 inch barrel (or longer) to qualify. The total length has to be at least 10 inches. You'd also have to have an out of state middle man FFL configure the gun as a single shot somehow. I'm not up on the recommended configurations to keep this kosher, so you'd have to ask around here some more to see what "those in the know" recommend or if this is even feasible on a MkIII style pistol.

I'm not having a glass of wine, I'm having SIX. It's called a tasting and it's classy.

Send your MKII/MKIII's lower to a middleman and have the Paclite delivered to the middleman as well. Make sure it has at least a 6" barrel and a 10.5" OAL, and have the middleman put the gun together in fireable configuration and make it single-shot.

You could send him a mag that he could fill up and make into a sled. Or you could make the mag into a sled yourself.

He would then send your completed gun back to a FFL in CA where you would transfer it under the single-shot exemption.
