    .17 HMR hunters....

What ammo are you using for squirrel's?

I see there is balistic tip, hollow points and standard FMJ's.

I want to stop them in their tracks before they back it to the hole.

i use 17gr TNT hp's because they are the only round that can consistently group acceptably.

I use Hornady 17gn with Vmax bullets as a prefference but pretty much any of the .17hmr ammo will either go through or remove body parts off of the little ground rats

Savage rifles do prefer 20gr rounds. All of mine are more accurate with the 20 gr over the 17 gr.

Yep, mine also likes the 20gr better.

Are you trying to rid the world of these? or trying to eat them? The ballistic tips never seems to do whatever the heck theyre supposed to do. Hollowpoints make a nasty mess.

Ive hunted rabbits and squirrels and i would prefer to hit them with with the ballistics, they go right through.

For pigeons i would use the hollows cause i dont really care what happens to the meat. got the wings to pop off like a cartoon =)

20 grains more accurate you say? I've been using 17 grains for the extra FPS the whole time... might have to give those a try.

17 or 20gr V-max for me all the way. All group great in my Marlin.Blows em up.

I dunno, I've never been much for guns. I mean, sure, we have the usual gun by the door, another near the TV, one in the kitchen, and another in the bedroom...and several others laying around. For the most part though, we keep our home free of guns. We are peace loving folks.

My Savage seems to like the 17gr V-Max the best. For such a tiny rimfire round they are very destructive too.
