If you wanted out of the box accuracy I'd go with a CZ bolt action, or a Thompson R55.

I was at the Sports Authority in Vacaville and they had stainless 10\22 for $239.99, I haven't seen a store cheaper than that.

                    Nice guns!

Oh, great, now I'm all embarrassed about my lowly, unmodified stock 10/22!

Marlin model 60- Grade A varmit nemesis! It was my first of many guns and is still my favorite! Accurate, reliable and cheap to shoot.

I have a marlin 700 it's pretty nice and fairly accurate I like it better than my friends 10/22 I also have an old glenfield model 20 bolt action that my cousin said was just as good as the 10/22 if not better but I'd go the model 60 route like others have said.

I love my stock Marlin 60. It's more accurate than any standard 10/22 I've shot. But keep in mind it's a tube feeder, so the 10/22 has a reloading advantage.

Then there comes the Marlin 795, which is the same action and barrel as the 60 but with a 10 round detachable magazine. The rifle itself is cheap, about $179 and the $20 mail in rebate makes it even cheaper.

The first rifle I ever owned was a Glenfield model 60, my father paid $25 for it back then and it's still an accurate rifle.

Hehehheheh.. I just got one in April for that same price. Guy I know who lost his job called me and offered it for that, along with a couple other guns (Schmidt-Rubin and a pump .410... grand total was $140)

                                Of course I bought them.
