Same here, fighting off the urge. Still seems there is much dissatisfaction from owners. The Turners sale is over, but I know they will still sell at that price for at least a week or two.

I know there is a ton of info out there on the Mosquito and I've read half of it, along with the comparison to the P22. Turner's has the Mosquito on sale for $329 and I am wondering if the newest production versions have the bugs worked out? I gotta think that Sig would have quietly improved it by now. Can anyone give post-break-in ftf, fte, etc feedback on recent versions, say purchased in the last year? I want to be able to use bulk ammo of some brand. Also, what is the experience of using a weaker spring for bulk ammo?

I bought mine at Turners about this time last year. As long as the ammo is high velocity, I've never had a problem...until yesterday. I had been shooting CCI Mini-Mags, then switched to Federal and had an ftl on every round in two mags. I put the weaker spring it and it worked fine. I'm going to polish the ramp and see if things improve.

I've been very happy with mine. Feeds most bulk ammo that I've put through it. Haven't cleaned it yet with about 500 rounds through it. I'm waiting for it to start having issues before I clean it

Having worked at a range that rented .22s, I would not recommend buying any .22lr tacticool gun including Sigs, Walthers, Berrettas and S&Ws. They all tend to have many more issues than any Ruger (including the poly framed 22/45) or Browning. The mosuito, P22, S&W 22A, Neos, etc. are not reliable and will not last. I've seen them wear out and/or break on a regular basis but, the old Rugers, High Standards and Brownings just keep right on working. Don't listen to the guys who haven't had any problems in 1000 or 2000 rounds. Their guns are not even broke in yet. Go into your local indoor range and see what they have to rent. They will not have a 5 year old Sig, S&W, Neos or P22. But, they may still be renting a 20 year old Ruger.

Now, if you want it just because you want it, that's a different story. I would recommend owning at least one other .22lr before you buy a POS toy though.

Thats good advice, in fact I wanted to rent the Mosquito, but it was down for repair so I rented the Neos, but wasn't too thrilled after about 50 rounds.

I already have a +50 year old Mk1 which does "keep on working" nicely. The Ruger and Buckmark always seem to be the top recommended 22lr but then my first choice for 22 plinking fun would be a G26 with conversion, but that is $1k. Second would be the CZ75, but that is +$500 & not even sure if available in CA. Third choice would be the Sig or P22 just for fun and as budget step to getting a 9mm. I hope the Sig is not quite the pos that couldn't run 1 or 2k rounds a year.

I have a Mosquito and it is reliable with CCI MiniMags which Sig recommends. Their newer 22 versions of the P220, 226 and 229 are even better though more expensive. But these are real lowers that you can add centerfire uppers to. Check one out and you'll be impressed.

Ok, now I'm looking into the Sig "P"s in 22 versions. Smart move of Sig to do this considering the cost of ammo. They must see that the 22lr conversion kits are all on back order. If a Glock 26 was available in 22 for $530 I'd buy it and get the 9mm upper later. Now I'm thinking I could do the same with a Sig P220. I see Sig has all the P's in 22lr for $608 msrp, I wonder what the street prices is and where can I find it in CA.

Also, now I need to learn the difference between the P220,226 and 229.

Never mind about getting the Sig's in 22 versions, according to sigsauer.com they are not CA compliant.

Assuming you get a reliable one, the Mosquito (like the P22) still has the problem of mediocre accuracy.

It's a fun plinker, but if you want something that will chew the center out of the bull at 25 yards (or even 10 yards), it's not going to do it (at least mine won't).

This should be an issue with the trigger more than anything. The barrel is pinned to the receiver, so it's got some very good inherent accuracy if you can get over the trigger.

I've shot both from a benchrest numerous times, and am pretty good at wringing accuracy out of mediocre triggers when I take the time and trouble.

It's rare for me to get better than 3-4" groups at 10 yards, no matter what ammo I shoot. My MkII bull barrel (which admittedly has a much better trigger) gets well under an inch in the same sessions, using SK Standard Plus ammo.

Maybe it's just my particular guns. If someone can get 1" 10 round groups at 10 yards with either a P22 or Mosquito, I'd love to see them.
