All AR 22 owners with dedicated uppers: Please step inside

For all AR .22 owners with dedicated upperrs, I'd like to get a collective poll regarding how well your gun runs. We'll keep it simple, state your upper, round count, and any issues you've had with it; primarily malfunctions or broken parts.

M&P22 and Colt M4 Umarex owners are fine as well. Spikes, tacsol, and CMMG as well as anyone else I'm forgetting, please take the time to complete this inquiry. You can copy and past the selected fields. List any other history regarding your gun.

Of course, for this to work, be truthful. Don't just state that your gun runs 100% when it really doesn't. Post a picture of the gun you're desciribing as well if possible.

Spike's owners: Please list whether you're using black or nickel bolts.

Make: Spikes Tactical M4 w/ Black bolt
    Round count: 25K or so
Malfunctions: 2 FTF in very first magazine using Federal Champion. Rest of the brick went 100%. It will only run on Federal Champion, Federal Bulk Pack and Remington Game Loads. Runs 100% so far on Federal Bulk Pack and Remington Game Loads. FTFire during broken firing pin.
Broken Parts: Broke a firing pin at 20K, hammer at 22K. Received FTFire from a BDM titanium firing pin, replaced with stock Spikes firing pin and runs 100% again.
Notes:Used two separate lowers. One RRA w/ RRA NM 2-stage, other with Spikes w/ RRA NM 2-stage. Broke the hammer on the Spikes within 2,000 rounds. The RRA lower is still going strong with 20K+ through it. Replaced Spikes
hammer with new RRA 2-stage, we'll see how it goes. Seems to run fine on the RRA NM triggers.

    Broken FP.

    Make: TacSol M4
    Round count: 400-500 rds., IIRC.
Malfunctions: Failure to fire about 10% w/ the notched hammer (RRA NM two-stage). No malfunctions w/ the rounded TacSol hammer yet, but only about 30-40 rds. thru it so far w/ the new hammer. Will update after this weekend. Only mags used so far have been Black Dogs, w/ Federal bulk ammo.
    Broken Parts: My wallet.
Notes: Installed on my Stag lower. Fit seems very tight (have to actually tap the pins in and out w/ a small mallet). The upper is very accurate w/ a red dot, enough that I may throw a Mueller APV on it just to see.

Excellent, thanks for getting us started Mike. Of interesting note, I noticed RRA went to a non-notched hammer for their 2-stage trigger upon installation last night. Hopefully, this one doesn't bite the dust.

          Ok, here we go:

This was my first dedicated upper that I replaced with a TacSol
          -------------------------------------------------------------
          Make: Model 1 Sales Carbine
Round count: ~2-3K Federal bulk and Federal auto match mixed
          Malfunctions: None
          Broken Parts: None
Notes: Rounded hammer, lightweight springs that came with the upper. Replaced hammer, trigger, AND disconnector springs.

          My TacSol
          ----------
          Make: Tactical Solutions M4 carbine
Round count: ~2-3K Federal bulk, Federal auto match, Winchester Super-X all mixed.
Malfunctions: Early on a handful (less than a dozen) of FTF and stovepipes, attributed to "break-in". The upper is running 100% smoothly now.
          Broken Parts: None.
Notes: Same exact lower as above, running the M1S lightweight springs.

          Angie's M1S
          -----------
Make: Model 1 Sales lightweight carbine (pencil barrel)
          Round count: ~1K
Malfunctions: Early on, we had many malfunctions, all attributed to the lower. Notched hammer, full-power springs. Went into a few small full-auto bursts of 3-4 rounds. Had an out-of-battery explosion where the round was only about halfway into the chamber.
          Broken Parts: None.
Notes: Replaced the hammer with a rounded hammer and replaced all springs with JP lightweight springs (Hammer, trigger, disconnector). Upper appears to be running 100% smoothly now.

Make: Spikes Tactical ST-22SD w/ nickel bolt << (Is this the shiny one?)
            Round count: 1K or so
Malfunctions: None except for occasional duds. Like Fed Bulk which is awesome. Break in was flawless. Ran bolt almost dry per Spikes' recommendation.
            Broken Parts: None. Thankfully.
Notes: This was a Spikes complete rifle shipped from LanWorld. Highly recommended.

              Make: Colt/Walther M4 .22
              Round count: 2000+
Malfunctions: FTF, FTF mostly with Remington ammo. After 500 rounds or so of CCI Mini Mags will digest any ammo but Remington.
              Broken Parts: None
Notes: This rifle is one hole accurate at 25 yards off hand using HV ammo. I find it fun and easy to clean, unlike many report. My dust cover is functional although the manual says it is not. Truly my most fun .22. I will compare it to a new GSG-5 I am picking up this Friday.

Make: Spikes Tactical M4 w/ nickel bolt
                Round count: approx 700
Malfunctions: occasional stovepipes, mostly with Winchester HV bulk packs. Runs great with SK and Aguila ammo Ive tested.
                Broken Parts: none yet!
Notes:Spikes lower, Stag parts trimmed recoil spring 3 coils, and did a half assed barrel/feed ramp polish job per spikes tuning guide. Cycles well with most high velocity ammo out of Black Dog mags. Im very happy with the accuracy and the Millet DMS scope setup. This is my chick's primary rifle and she loves it...(almost as much as I do!)

                  Round count: approx 600
Malfunctions: 10% FTE(casing gets stuck between bolt and housing around the barrel)using Federal bulk ammo. Loves CCI mm and Aguila Super Max. Was also having problem with fire on release but I think that had to do with the lower. JP enterprise springs fixed that
                  Broken Parts: NONE
Notes: All I did was shoot from the bench with this rifle, so I figured why not get a bench gun. I am trying to sale this to fund a CZ 453

Carbon22 upper. I bought it used so, unknown round count. I'd guess it is not even 1000 though. It decided to fire out of battey a few times and it has a habit of triple tapping so, it's gotta go back to Bushmaster for a tune up.

                        That's most likely your lower.

If you run the rounded hammer and a set of JP reduced power springs those issues should go away. Read my report up ^^^ there for Angie's upper.
