    S&W M&P15-22

    Hello,

Has anyone either handled or fired Smith & Wesson's new M&P15-22 rifle? I just read an article in Shooting Times and this thing sounds like a winner!

I heard you used one of the new S&W M&P 15-22 .22LR AR lookalikes at your recent Portland class. How did you like it, and what are your thoughts on it as a training tool?I was looking to get one for

Just need someone to block the damn standard mags down to 10 so we can bring them in here ASAP.

I want one. Want to put the cheap Sig 4MOA T-1 clone on it for a RDS and be happy.

It does look like a fun little rifle.

ps: S&W already makes 10 round mags for these. Check out the "Compliant" model on their web site......10 round mag and a fixed position stock.

I don't think the 10 rounders are out yet (not until October was the date I had heard). I wasn't too happy with the "compliant" rifle either. We can have the standard rifle here in California. Just not the mags. The short stubby ten rounders are also a PITA to load/unload out of the rifle. Would rather have a blocked 25 I can get my mits around.

Good to see you here Dan! (mrbieler)

Got it. I prefer the look of the dedicated 10 round mags. myself. Seeing a blocked high capacity mag. makes me cringe.

            Thanks Jeff!

I called S&W and they have no idea when the 10 round mags are coming out so dont hold them to the october release date. I mean the rifle was projected to be released in june, but they starting shipping them in mid August.

the short mags can be PITA, but you can just slap those rubber mag pulls on them and it would be a lot easier.

I had a feeling we'd see a delay. Now we just need someone to block the 25 rounders so we can start bringing in rifles to FFL's.

All you need is to have whoever is shipping you the rifle disassemble the mag so you can block it yourself. How willing people are to do this, and general distaste for California is another story.

When you guys do get these you'll be very happy. I've had my M&P 15-22 for a few weeks now and the more I shoot it the more I like it. I jumped on the Colt/Umarex bandwagon as soon as they became available and it proved to be accurate and reliable. But the Smith & Wesson totally outclasses it, it is a much better design, more accurate and has a better trigger. The only thing the Colt M4 has going for it is that it looks more like an M4. When the Smith & Wesson M&P 15-22s become available in California they will outsell the Colts by a wide margin. It is just a better gun.

That's going to be the headache. Hoping one of the out of state middlemen that aid with OLL's will pick up the banner and run with it for us.

Yeah, I'm going to try to get one in a couple weeks. Wade through Gunbroker and call up the CA friendly listings and ask them to take down the mag. Might even offer a little extra $$ for the labor.

Why would a guy go through that trouble when they are selling out of those babies like hot cakes. if the rifles were stuck on their hand, I could imagine them doing it to sell to california.

But with this crazy demand nation wide, California like states have to just suck on their thumps right now or settle for less

I just shot mine. OMG I love it. Super accurage, super reliable and the best part is that it is super easy to take down and clean. I have the Colt as well and as much as I love it's accuracy, it is a pain in the rear posterior to take apart and clean.

Sorry for thinking there might still be some good people left. It never hurts to ask. If I can't get anyone to send me a M&P15-22 I'll be going with a GSG-5 or tactical dressed up 10/22.
