Your experience sounds about normal with the Sig kits. You can read more about them on sigforum.com

Based on the reviews I found for Sig, Glocks and CZ's I decided to get the CZ Kadet conversion for my CZ P-01. It's a bit more costly than the others but it has been as reliable as my Ruger MKIII and very accurate. I'm very impressed with it.

I have to wonder why all centerfire handguns don't come with a reliable 22 conversion kit. I feel it's a natural addition to owning any combat pistol.

Glock of all manufacturers should manufacture their own kit! I would love one for my G19 but now I expect it to be as reliable as my Kadet kit and unfortunately the AA kit is just as ammo picky as the others.

The AA is picky, but not as picky as you would think- I've run a few brands of non-reccomeded ammo through my '05 G21 kit (Armscor, Winchester) and they have worked pretty well-although the Armscors resulted in heavy leading of the barrel after 200 rounds, there was no misfires.

Of course, nothing works better than CCI Mini-mags, and considering their only $.06-$.10 a round, it still makes way more sense than spending $.20-$.50 a round for practicing trigger control.

But, your right, Glock has been resting on their laurel's for for quite some time now.

Have you considered a Walther P22? Double action, ergonomic, and mine has fired any .22 i've put through it and never had a malfunction.

Sorry for reviving this somewhat necropost but SIGARMS is having a sale ($249 shipped) on their .22 conversion kits for the P220/P226/P228/P229 (non railed) from now until Dec. 8th.

I just got rid of the magazine disconnect on my Mosquito. Since it was the one thing that bugged me about the .22, I pretty much abandoned the idea of picking up a Sig conversion for my 228.

But at $249 it's tempting again.

Anyone have a work around for having the slide lock back after the last round?

Yep, Jeff from Sig Power has a follower that will hold the slide back after the last round. I've read it's very effective and I plan to get one. Along with the stainless steel guide rod.

I just got my conversion kit for my P226 and it works, and I am in Calif. There were some problems with some rounds feeding and a few misfires. I have read many many replies about a "work in period" in just using the kit. Even just racking the slide back manually to work it in. The kits are said to work better wet, meaning oiled. And the different brands/gr of ammo affect the operation. It did shoot accurately after I adjusted the sight. Am still working on my kit and the recipe for me using it.

I received my P229 conversion kit in Dec. and it worked perfectly - zero malfunctions in 100 rounds! I fired Remington Golden Bullets and Federal copper plated rounds, both 36 gr. HV rounds. I made sure the frame was completely clean and well lubed before I shot it. I also cycled the conversion slide on the frame about 20 times before I started firing real ammo.
