As for accuracy, I found my T model likes the Remington subsonic stuff. It was printing 1/4" to 1/2" 5 to 6 shot groups at 50 yds. The target stuff tends to be in the inch to 2 inch range.

Best Ammo for 10/22

The only thing that is worse than an idiot, is someone who argues with one. -
I echo the tip about trying a known-good factory magazine, and ensuring that it seats well. It's not too uncommon for aftermarket mags to have feeding issues.
Aside from a good cleaning as others have mentioned, many have had great luck with the VQ Exact Edge extractors - Everyone I know with one has had good experiences using them. It's a little tricky to install the first time you do it, but after that, they are easy to install (assuming you have several bolts/10/22s).
Most issues I've seen are ammo related, especially if using cheap bulk ammo (FTF, mainly, though). Trying different ammo (diff velocities, bullet types) might yield better results, too.
Good luck with your troubleshooting and let us know how it goes!Comment

Mine always likes either Federal or Winchester. Anything but Thunderbolt, that stuff is pure junk.Comment

I bought my SS 10/22 on 10/24/03, I had the same problem for years, it would only shoot Remington hollowpoints with no trouble, Changed the extractor, http://cgi.ebay.com/Boss-10-22-Ruger...d=p3286.c0.m14 to this Titan $12.95 and had no more problems, it will shot everything now, Good luck.Comment

The best ammo these days is the ammo you can actually find. 10-22's take most anything. You need to keep them clean though."You can't handle the truth"Comment

Those mags look complicated. Anyways shoot what is cheap and clean often"The God of War hates those who hesitate."Comment

I had an issue with my 20+ year old Ruger 10/22 couple months ago when I replaced the steel buffer to a plastic/rubber one. That was a mistake. I shot Rem GB, Fed. Bulk, Winchester, all had issues with FTE. I went ahead and put the original part back in and guess what...NO FTEs. I guess the plastic/rubber buffer made my action retract so fast that it didn't allow the empty shell to eject.
I used 25 round pre ban banana clips from Ramline and the original Ruger 10/22 magazines.
Is there anyone out there have an issue with the rubber/plastic buffer causing it to FTE?Last edited by Enter_the_Dragon; 10-02-2009, 10:14 AM.sigpicComment
