Well if you're hard over for a bolt action that takrs 10/22 mags, I guess so.
But for same or similar $ you could start wth a Savage V gun-FV, FVSR.
Add a Boyd's tacticool or other stock. Add a DIP products action/bottom plate kit. Add an Apache trigger kit, and you'll have a much more accurate .22.
    Tire kickers gonna kick,
    Nose pickers gonna pick

Don’t know why anyone would choose this over a Ruger Precision rimfire, unless you want a traditional stock without all the tacticool stuff. But even then I’d go with the Ruger American rimfire over it.
Im a warmonger baby, I got blood in my eyes and I'm looking at you.

Howa is made in Japan and is of a good quality.

The Savage FV or Mark II are supposed to be good but don't see much around in LGS in so cal.

I have a Savage MKII-BV (target rifle, no sights, composite stock). I had to order it since none were in stock. I picked the model from their website. Tack driver accurate, the AccuTrigger is excellent.

I went for these. Ruger and Savage. I like them both, but I like the Ruger more.

A while back, I was considering a precision 22 for silhouette matches. My 10/22 was really lacking and I shoot lever action silhouette so like lever guns. Steel challenge is all about speed and I do love semi automatic guns.

I fell down the custom 10/22 rabbit hole and went with Kidd parts, 2 stage trigger in ounces not pounds, and a tacom Chassis. The adjustable buttstock didn't make me happy so I fabricated and welded my own aluminum stock and cheek rest to fit me.

Cci sv ammo has given me a 3/8" group at 50 yards And 3/4" at 100 meters with the ultra lightweight kidd barrel.

At maybe $1200 in for the upgrades to my ruger receiver, it was well worth while. I'm really glad I didn't buy another stock gun. On Sunday I got 2nd place In silhouette and last month was 3rd iirc.

I also considered using an old Remington Bolt action i have but once you have run customized guns with quality triggers and other parts, it is hard to go back . I also built custom sight mounts to run peep sights and can swap them Out for A dot and a scope. It is a light weight build and custom Made weighs for the end of the handguard for precision off hand shooting. For speed shooting, it comes off.

It all depends on what you want..

I see dozens for sale on Gunbroker, plastic under $400, walnut at around $450. Fancy stock versions are available. Looks like a 10/22 killer.

                      Anyone got one? Do tell.
? one is a semi auto and the other is manually operated bolt action. No this will not compete with the other.
