    Springfield 2020 rimfire

Saw a write up in the new American Rifleman mag. It's a 20" bolt action freefloat with poly or walnut stocks, made in Turkey.

It uses 10/22 rotary mags and an adjustable Rem 700 style trigger. Claimed to shoot 1 moa at 50 yards.

I see dozens for sale on Gunbroker, plastic under $400, walnut at around $450. Fancy stock versions are available. Looks like a 10/22 killer.

    Anyone got one? Do tell.

They are in stock in Camarillo. Looked at the base polymer stock and the high end fancy wood stock. Both have a smooth action. The base model is heavier because it is a thicker barrel. The wood stock versions have a lighter barrel.

I went to Springfield site to see what this was, and nope, not 1 MOA.

"Every configuration is guaranteed to shoot 1" or less at 50 yards with quality match-grade factory ammunition, in the hands of a skilled shooter."

1" at 50 yards is 2 MOA, not 1 MOA. Plus, this is a bolt action rifle, it competes more with the Ruger American Rimfire than a 10/22, which is semi-auto. The magazines do look like Ruger rotary mags though, and this one probably does use those mags.

Looks nice, might fill a niche, but I remain skeptical of most guns from Turkey. If SAI continues to support them then parts and service might be all right. Sounds like they are heavily invested, so it might be OK.

On the other hand, if they dont catch on many good lucks finding parts in the future.

If SA made a heavy barrel version in LH I might be interested. I've got plenty of 10/22 magazines.

Turkey, as a country, is NOT our friend. They support our enemies and any firearms resource could evaporate in seconds if things blow up over there.

Nice guns (as are Weatherby rifles and shotguns) but personally I just wouldn't go there. JMHO.

As for Nice Guns, that's a matter of opinion. Purty wood, for sure. They change manufacturers and US distributors about as often as most guys change their shorts. Same name models made by different factories with different small part suppliers. With specs "on the fly". That's just the tip of the iceberg.

Josh fed it high-end ammo (Eley, Lapua, SK) and it did not perform! and the Ruger 10/22 Mag did not fare well either,

Was interested. Not after watching both videos. Think it was a fair honest review.

For $500 I would have thought these Springfield rifles would be made in USA. Why bother when you can get a Ruger bolt action .22 for the same price?

Very true Dave. I just saw the Howa at Ammo Bros. and it's not US made but if I go with foreign born, I would lean that way. I would be hesitant after the reviews on youtube about the 2020. I almost bought into the notion; "It's a Springfiled Armory", but pass.
