    Ruger Mark IV Preferred Ammo

I recently picked up a Ruger Mark IV and for the most part, I really like it. My only complaint is that it jams much more frequently than it should. I've been running CCI ammo but was wondering if there is something that runs better in it. What has your experience been?

What FPS of CCI? Mini-mags have been flawless in all my semi-auto pistols and rifles.

Standard velocity rounds might not cycle.

1235 FPS mini mags. I was averaging one jam per magazine (the spent cartridge failed to eject).

Fed Automatch works flawlessly in my 22/45 5?. Chronies at 1010 fps using a LabRadar.

The brass case for fed auto is narrower than standard issue.

Tandemcross has a video out there on how to get rid of the burrs on the mags. That should help.

              IMO...
This is a must do for all Ruger rimfire pistol magazines.

Thanks for the tip! I had not even considered that as a potential cause. I will check it out.

I'll have to pick some up with my next Target Sports order and give it a try.

Out here the shelves at all Walmarts are overflowing with this ammo at $20/325. A few have it at $17.95. I refilled my 27 gallon totes with them since the shortage ended.

I really like it, shoot a ton of it. One of the most reliable cheap 22 bulk ammo I?ve run across. I?ve put thousands of rounds of it through my Glock 44, most days I?ll shoot 250-400 rounds with it and have zero failures. Same with a couple TX22s, M&P 15/22 and H&K MP22. Also with a Ruger MII and Buckmark, although not quite as reliable with them it still rarely has a stoppage.

I usually buy 5 or 6 boxes of it everytime I?m in Walmart. Recently it was on rollback, I loaded up.
Im a warmonger baby, I got blood in my eyes and I'm looking at you.

Very nice! I think the Walmarts near me stopped stocking ammo a few years ago but, I'll definitely check.

Yeah definitely post up if a WalMart in CA sells ammo. The closest I’ve seen recently is selling airgun ammo and gun accessories like oil, cleaning solvents, brushes, holsters, slings and scopes but no firearm ammunition.

                            That surprises me!

There is a possibility that your extractor has a burr or is cut wrong.
I would suggest replacing the extractor with either a Volquartsen or Tandemkross one.

                            That should eliminate your issues.

I have the exact opposite experience.
Automatch seems to NEVER work in any of my .22’s.

Federal Value bulk, the cheap stuff at Walmart is my go-to ammo.

I have never had an issue with the magazine being the issue.

Run 500 rounds through it, it should be fine afterwards
