Walther P22 bargain

For you expatriates I?d go with the Taurus TX 22 or compact.
I haven?t had a single issue with my compact using hundreds of mini mags. It?s optics ready and threaded as well.

I?ve got 4000 rounds of various cheap bulk ammo through my TX22c, just shot it this morning 300 rounds of Remington Golden Bullets and Federal Auto Match. Not one malfunction as is the norm.

Years ago with my P22, I noticed if you pulled the slide back real slow you'd feel the hammer snag in that gap. I made the effort to disassemble and inspect everything and see what was going on and did some polishing. Still needs the "right" HV ammo to run 100% though.

The edge of that gap needs more than polishing.
It needs to be re-shaped into a proper ramp to let the hammer slide by freely.
Also the part of the hammer that catches there needs to be rounded so it can't catch.
After that, and maybe a little spring adjustment, it should run standard velocity.

I have an older P-22, did all the fixes outlined in the P-22 bible written by a member of Rim Fire Central. It's a nice shooter, fairly accurate, and doesn't jam with the high velocity ammo I feed it. That being said, I would have probably bought the Ruger over it had it been on the market at the time. I have a few other .22 pistols I like to shoot, a Colt Target, Ruger Mk III 22-45, S&W M&P. Also have conversion kits for my Gold Cup and 92FS.

We took ours out yesterday with a rest to determine if it is worthy of an optic and a can.

With stock sights it consistently pulls a bit left @ 15 yards. We ran another 500 trouble free rounds through it. Very impressive.

I?ve never shot mine off a rest or used the iron(plastic)sights, I bought the model with they Riton RD. It has worked and performed great, I did have to put thread locker on the red dot screws as it loosened up from the factory after shooting but since then dead solid.

I use mine in more run and gun type shooting/training and very happy with it for that. This is a combat qual drill I run from 3 to 25 yards, all from the holster and shooting fast. The TX22c is outstanding for that type of training with a RD.

I got my son a P22 and its been ok, we have to use HV ammo and I noticed you need to keep a really firm grip then it doesn't have to many issues, if your grip loosens and the gun is able to recoil at all it jams. I still need to do some fine tuning to the gun to make it run better but I haven't had the time yet, but my son really wants to get a 9mm so I may just leave the 22 be.

Hmmmm, my gal has one. Was a gift from her brother, just talked to him & he didn't realize the issues the P22 has. We're gonna take it plinking & see what ammo feeds good. She's had it for some time, never had to use it.
Never knew this about this gun, it is a nice looker. But this day & age a guns gotta be a gun & not a paper weight.

Nice shooting on the run. Most all are lethal hits.

My compact is worthy of an optic as we had consistent 1-2? groups at 15 yards on a rest. Added bonus is the easy take down for cleaning.
