    Browning SA 22 Challenge

Does anyone have one of these rifles?

Waiting for it to get out of jail and curious what to expect. Very few reviews but most are positive for accuracy. Muzzle heavy and ugly, but the concept fascinated me and I've always liked the SA 22. This one doesn't take down. It looks like this version was only made on year.

I got this rifle when I was about 10 from my grandfather.

It?s a sweet shooter for sure.
    Sweet memories to boot.
One of those guns I?ll never sell.

          awesome fun gun / plinker.
never even tried to determine its accuracy.
          a keeper.

The bottom eject is different. Your neighbors at the range will like that.

              Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

It was less than suggested retail, but still expensive (for me). All out after taxes, registration fees, etc., less than a grand.

The buttstock is pretty different than mine. Mine looks like the others in the link above. I kind of like the challenge stock.

I have an original SA-22 takedown with a skinny barrel that balances great.

That looks like it would be very muzzle heavy.
A heavier barrel and a picatinny rail does not necessarily make everything better.

Mine works very well, but it is a range gun not a hunting gun. Too heavy to carry around. Although I guess with the lead free bullets in California my days of hunting rabbits with a 22lr are long gone. I don't think that 22lr tin bullets are accurate enough for head shots at 75 yards. If I were to go hunting I would use a 17 hmr on bunnies.

                          That's strange..

The original was a lightweight handy gun that quickly took down into two pieces. My uncle has one, it balances nice. I wanted one for the kids but never came across one I wanted to pay for yet.

This thing looks.. heavy. The little receiver doesn't look like it'll balance well with a thick barrel like that.

Maybe a sleeved barrel with aluminum outer would work out nicely as a modernized gun.

True - but it doesn?t necessarily make it worse either.

That said - one of the best features of my sa-22 is the lightweight and balance.

This is clearly going to be a different rifle with different qualities.
