I built the upper. Anderson $39 lightweight upper, $99 RTB barrel, cheapo free float and a linear comp. I used an old Ceiner conversion bolt, added the SS cap for the .22 barrel. Paid $40 for that.

It has a Leupold 3x9 32 mm freedom scope. Great shooter but my Henry Golden Boy smokes it.

I have read that they may have discontinued the A2 GP barrels too..I knwo when I bought mine shown above it was hard to get one then about 4 years ago..If I remember right..I actually got the last one Cheaper than Dirt had in stock..Do not like that Company..But it was the only alternative I found at the time.

I do not know why they discontinued the M16A2 GP barrels..There are still alot of people seeking them and in demand for sure..But it seems really hard to find any A2 stuff for even 5.56 barrels and A2 upper receivers too..I just put this M16A2 5.56 upper together a couple weeks ago..I lucked into a FN USGI Barrel and FN A2 Upper receiver from a guy on another forum..Of all the AR platform..A2 is my favorite one..

Anyone have any experience with the Bear Creek Arsenal (BCA) AR-22 upper? Thinking of building a training rifle and not finding much options other there besides the CMMG conversion kit.

I think it is the opposite now..Retro is in more now from what I have seen..Over on the ARFCOM forum, they are begging for the makers to get more A2 stuff in production..In my opinion the retro stuff will only get bigger as some of the Vets get older and want to replicate their carry service Rifles..

Not slamming the 15-22 and if those that have em love em, great for them..I never really understood why they ever made them with plastic lowers though..They were already producing aluminum standard ARs..For a few bucks more they could have foregone the plastic..

I have not owned a Tippman, but I have read good stuff about them..

I like my S&W M&P 15-22, all the controls are the same as an AR and they are all functional. No phony bullschitt like some of them. Lifetime warranty too.

Man I really like the a2 configuration. It’s all but impossible to find maybe I will just wait it out in hopes of a2 configuration hits the market again.

I have their 22WMR and 17MHR uppers and they are tops. They are very accurate, not as accurate as the Ruger Precision Rimfire in the same cartridge but very close, close enough not to think about.

I have found them to be very reliable and eat any brand/weight of ammo. The fit and finish is really good and they just plain work. No failures other than one that wouldn't fire but also wouldn't fire in a Savage bolt either so I consider that an ammo failure. Together I now have about 3500 rounds through them, very pleased.

I use the BlackDog magazines and they function perfectly. I also have the SWMP15-22 Performance Center and the HK 416 22lr and while the BCA uppers are the rimfire magnums, they outperform the dedicated 22lrs.

Not being too cost conscious on rimfire ammo, I almost always shoot 22WMR or 17HMR, the two dedicated 22lr ARs just sit as they aren't as much fun to me. I fill ensure bottles with water the stuff a mashmallow in the top and when hit it's a pretty good show out much farther then the 22lr does much. I think one of them went into orbit

Ran a question past the ARFCOM forum..And it appears there is not a lot of possibility for finding an A2 GP barrel right now..But there are alot of others waiting on them to come up somewhere too..I would like to have another myself if anything ever comes up that is..

As others have said, I built my own from standard parts and the cmmg kit (with dedicated .22lr barrel).

After some initial teething issues it runs great and is surprisingly accurate.

                              YMMV.
                              Sorry, not sorry.

built my own dedicated M4 type with CMMG barrel and RTB bolt and collar and it runs fantastic
