The problem with a rail and tube dot on a pistol is the additional parallax.

If you center your dot to hit the bullseye at 25 yards, you'll shoot low at 10 yards.

With a dot 1/2" above the bore, your 10 yard shot will hit about 1/8" low
With a dot 1" above the bore, your shot will hit 0.4" low
With a dot 2" above the bore, your shot will hit 1" low

I put a vortex venom on mine, you can find them online for about $150. The cheaper holosun rmr style dots would be good too

C-More slide ride. Requires a top strap swap to mount buy works great and those can be had used in your budget.

I have a stock Buckmark Contour 5.5" with a Burris FastFire III (maybe a II) on it. I can shoot out the staples that hold the target up on the pistol range. The combo is insanely accurate for me.

I use a cheap amazon red dot that was bought over 10 years ago. Sharp dot, has never failed on me. Sort of hard to zero, but it stays put once it's set.

Rail is from Tactical Solutions. The Altoids tin holds tools and a spare battery.

+1. I put a cheap Tasco on mine when I first bought it back in the late 90's. The bullet goes where the red dot is, and the batteries seem to last forever. Honestly, the red dot made it kind of boring to shoot for me. My daughter loved it though.

Put a Bushnell red dot on my Contour, I believe it's the RSX model. Haven't had the chance to try it out yet but it looks cool and is pretty easy to pick up the dot.

My ff3 has thousands of rounds through it now. It's a great dot. I would have bought the larger ff4 if i was doing it again.
