The problem with a rail and tube dot on a pistol is the additional parallax.
If you center your dot to hit the bullseye at 25 yards, you'll shoot low at 10 yards.
With a dot 1/2" above the bore, your 10 yard shot will hit about 1/8" low
With a dot 1" above the bore, your shot will hit 0.4" low
With a dot 2" above the bore, your shot will hit 1" low
