    Scope mount for CZ 457

I have a CZ 457 Varmint on order and looking at a few scopes for it that has 30mm tubes. Probably will be a higher power scope than needed, but makes it easier on my eyes - looking at 4-16x44 scopes.

Seems hard to get a good fit guide for the 11mm dovetail.

What rings/mounts are people using on 455/457s?

I went with Warne rings on my 457 American for my Leupold that has a 1" tube.

These two will work with a 30mm tube on a CZ with the 11mm dovetail:

Warne Rimfire rings fit both the 3/8th inch and 11mm dovetails found on many rimfire rifles. A unique horizontal design, steel rimfire rings are the best.

The unique 70-30 horizontal split design and steel construction give these 732M 30mm rimfire scope rings unparalleled strength and service.

My guess is the high set might work for you. I have the mediums on mine with a 3-9x33.

I use the same rings but would recommend going with a 11mm to weaver rail and using weaver/picatinny rings for more selection

I guess it all depends on if the scope will fit or not without the rail and the distance you plan to shoot out to. Mine is just going to be used as a squirrel and rabbit gun and no plans to shoot any crazy distances, plus my scope os only 33mm.

Does CZ make one with iron sights? They look like a well made gun. I love the furniture.

I just have a hard time buying any gun that doesn't have iron sights.

Looking forward to the range report OP.

I saw your thread that sort of prompted my question. Nice looking setup. I'm going to for a larger scope as it will primarily be used as a target setup (too much weight with the bull barrel and a 16x scope - and I have a RAR and 10/22 that are lightweight for traveling gigs).

Hmm, I saw that and was wondering if that may be a better option. Will need to check it out more.

They have many 457 models with iron sights. On my RAR with iron sight I found them to just get in the way. My eyes are not that great to use open sights for any meaningful accuracy at any distance past 25 yards. A peep sight is still OK in many occasions.

Will be a while for a range report, as I am still waiting for the 457 to arrive and looking at scope options, etc. My aim is to get good accuracy with CCI and Aguila SV ammo, if it can't I will have to get rid of it, as I'm not into the $$$ 22 match type ammo. The RAR does pretty well with the above ammo, but looking for something that is a step up and prettier

Warne rings with a Vortex 4-16 on my 457. If it matters I shoot a 17HMR.

I would look at the Area 419 or DIP scope mounts and whatever rings you want that meet your needs. I like the Area 419 mount slightly better and they offer three canted options should you want to shoot a long ways.

I should pay the OP $100 for this advice because that's probably what it is worth.

I have a 457 in .17HMR. It produces groups just over half an inch at 100 yards with Hornady NTX ammo and it's devastating on squirrels. If only I could find NTX ammo these days.

I have an inexpensive 9x Bushnell centerfire scope with a 1 inch tube mounted on it.

In my opinion you are wasting good money on a higher power scope unless you plan on shooting out past 100 yards (with .22lr ammo?). I have high power scopes mounted on a few of my centerfire rifles and as far as I can tell, they don't do me a whole lot of good. Money and effort are better spent on a good rest and a light trigger pull.

I'm happy to let you try my CZ with a low power scope if you get up to Tahoe. I'll even switch out the barrel to .22lr for ya.

I tried the EGW rails on my 455s, but then switched to the DIP products rails instead since they're a lot thinner. Initially I thought they weren't going to be strong enough, but they've worked out well and I was able to lower the scope height. And I can use standard scope rings.

Too many rifles, not enough time...

I have a LH CZ 457 in .22 WMR on the way. It will be my 4th LH CZ. They are quite accurrate. I am thinking about this scope mount.

Congrats on the new incoming CZ...tremendous choice.

With regards to rails, I've used 3 different ones:

Area 419 (photo from their website)

and one from triggers by SCAR and a CZ brand rail. They are all good. I just ended up using the CZ brand rail because it was longer and allowed me to push my scope further forward for shooting prone at Appleseed.

I've been using vortex, night force, and badger rings..no probs with any.

I like using higher magnification so that I can see my holes on the paper (I shoot at 100) and avoid lugging my spotting scope. On the other hand, I have shot at 200 yards, and at that distance someone around 9-10x felt good for the shooting I was doing. At the end of the day though, I do like magnification within reason.

You have a lot of great options for a first scope for that gun: Athlon, vortex. My favorite scope recently shooting 22 at distance is a vortex PST2 3-15x44. Luv that thing.

Another option is to look at Arken scopes. Reasonably priced scopes and if you get the coupon codes (from some YouTube reviews), you can get rings, level, throw lever, caps and other goodies included. I got one and it is a great value. Get one of these, SH4 4-16X50 GEN2 FFP, and you'll be getting a scope with all the big boy features at a good price. I'm tempted to pick one up. I have one of their 5-25x56 scopes, and happily using it along with the bag of goodies included.

                            @FNGGLock,

Not too late I hope. I use BKL 303L 30mm dovetail rings on my 457s. Works with Vortex 6-24X50 scopes; Crossfire II and Diamondback Tactical. My barrels do not have iron sights.

Thanks for all the input, already got an EGW rail(with 20 MOA just in case I need to go out a bit), Keystone rings from EGW and a Vortex Diamondback tactical 4-16x44. It all already arrived, just waiting to free the CZ from jail.

I got a YoDave spring as well, not sure when that will land, but may just adjust the trigger for now. Hope it all works well together with normal ammo, and shoots better than my RAR setup.
