    Ruger Wrangler

Thinking about getting a Ruger Wrangler as a cheap little plinker for the range. Would like to hear owner's feedback, positive or negative. I've had a Heritage Rough Rider before but sold it after a year. Thanks!

I bought one a year or so ago. I put nice wood grips on it. It's a fun little pistol. The loading gate is a bit stiff, it triggers the cylinder lock I think, hence why. There are no clicks when rotating the cylinder w/ the gate open. Fun to shoot. No weird safety like the Heritage. Figure it's a good dash snake gun.

I also bought a used 1976 Super Single Six and it is NICE...if you only want one 22lr wheelgun I'd spring for the Single Six. Mine only came w/ a magnum cylinder but I bought a few 22lr ones and they all worked fine.

    I'm keeping both.

Looking at the Single Six also. Will keep that in mind. Thanks!

Fun to plink with, not the most accurate gun, but it does what I want it to do.

I got mine a couple years back and love it. For the price point it's a good deal as a plinker/snake gun/single-actions are cool. A great training tool I've found for introducing people to guns. Not as nice as a single six, but then again thats not what the wrangler was built for. A fun little shooter that I don't mind dropping or putting away wet (Not that I'd ever do that with it)

I'd agree the loading gate is a bit stiff but it's not a deal breaker. I have the OD green model which looks good but can be hard to find

I’ve had one for about a year, it’s a good plinker, accuracy is good enough for what it is. I got it for my son, it’s a fantastic learning tool for new shooters, but I really like the thing too.

For the price you can’t go wrong

The wrangler weighs less than a single six, something you might consider if a child might be shooting it.

That’s a good point. The single six is one of the few firearms I have traded off due to the size and weight.
It seemed funny to me to have a 22 that weighed more than my Blackhawk.
Wrangler wasn’t a thing yet so it was replaced with a Bearcat.

Sights are not adjustable and maybe take a few shots to get an idea of what hold you should do.

                  I prefer my Buckmark instead…

Its a fun little handgun. I opted for all black. I am not a fan of the finish but it does the job. Loading gate and hammer are stiff but loosens up over time. Accurate enough to pop clays from 25 and in. After about 200 rounds some blue wear on the cylinder. I am happy for what it is, yes its not a single six but meets the need of a 22 single action.

                      I like mine.

Purchased when they 1st came out.

Hard to beat a 22 Ruger at that price point.

                      Fun gun.

                      Buy one!

I've thought about getting a Wrangler whenever I've seen them on sale. The Diamondback Sidekick looks good too with the 2nd cylinder to also shoot .22 Mag. I've yet to see one in a store - I'd like to compare the two someday.

good little plinker on 22lr day. Fairly accurate for what it is. Every once awhile a casing is a little tough to get out, but probably more the ammo.

Thanks much guys! I currently have a Buckmark with aftermarket barrel that I use for more precision pistol plinking, but this sounds like a great gun as I do plan to take some kids shooting, after they are old enough to move on from my 10/22 and CZ 455.
